If you’re confident of a place then surely a place only bet is your best option to make a profit?

I do play the place only market very often but whilst I can't see it being out of the places I think it has a great chance of winning, certainly greater than 9/2 (which I know a 1/5 odds pays less than evs but its also about limiting losses).

I am certainly not an expert and merely a recreational punter, but happy to bet to my own opinion.

Then I’d suggest an 80% of stake as a place bet and the remaining 20% win only - it’s a damn shame that bookies only offer ew bets as 50/50

When he won his first two races, i chucked £5 at him winning his next 4. First two won so i cashed out for a healthy £230! Happy Days! He got a place in the next, phew!

Evans's yard has just come back with a few winners and places after at least a 3 week break without a single runner! Yard must have had some illness - i'll see what i can sniff out.

True to a point - PD Evans only had two runners today. Zulu at Goodwood which only incurred a ‘loyalty bet’ (as I’ve said a few times before, I usually swerve the “big meetings”) his other runner at Leicester put me in profit

I took reduced odds from 25/1 to 18/1 on Deirdre for an extra place and then it comes 1st, when I don't the horse ends up 1 place out.
On the bright side, I'm evens over 3 days.

Doing similar in today’s first race on Lyzbeth ew down to 5 places. More or less all in for this bet but a few quid left for Evans and Ron Harris later if needed.
