Eve Muirhead did a fantastic shot in a tense game, her and the team should be proud.
I suspect she may be quite good at Billiards!
They've pulled themselves back from the brink and into the Semi-Finals.

To anyone complaining about the BBC coverage, might I suggest you try watching the Ski Cross on Eurosport? It's dire! I'm starting to wonder if the commentator has been roofied, and he's just desperately trying to stay awake!

To demonstrate the level of my sense of humour, I've just laughed myself stupid at the discovery that the Russians have a Ski Cross skier called Semen Denshchikov! rofl

I think she only has herself to blame. She’s proven on the world circuit but she’s quite an emotional character and probably applies far too much self pressure for an Olympic gold.
Self-pressure often improves sporting performance.

I’m assuming team GB have some sports psychologists to try and combat this.
Sports psychology isn't witchcraft though.. and quite often it's little more than common sense. If an athlete simply isn't good enough to win there's not much they can do.

Well done to the British 2-woman Bobsledders!

In a world where everything is about money in sport these days, finishing 8th in their first Olympics after having their funding removed and having to crowd-source for themselves to get there seems pretty outstanding! smile

I'm sure that I heard it said that an 8th placed finish would get them funding,

Considering that they hadn't been to the track before to race in the world cup or practice events, getting an 8th place finish is brilliant.

Brilliant result, hopefully they won't have to worry about funding for future events.

Just be glad Fanny Chmelar has retired.

All the more so when you consider that it's the best ever result by British women in the event.

Give the British girls a BMW bobsled and four years of funding with training and in the next Olympics they could be top three.

I guess this comment belongs here but...

WHY do we always have to have Balding and a full female pundit line up every day ? - i'm all for equality and all, but it seems a bit... odd ??
As long as Amy Williams is there every day i'll be more than happy:

And I actually like Clare Balding, she's totally solid and dependable and has a good general knowledge of most sports she covers.

McLaren were involved in the sled used in the Skeleton. In fact, Lizzie Yarnold ended up marring the engineer involved.

Ed what's his name, who used to commentate freestyle motox with Rob Warner.

Applies the same style to everything he does.

We're not all 18 years old in jeans and skate trainers. (Any more!)

Not really into skiing, but I watched the mens' cross-country sprint relay and the Norwegian win. That guy Johannes Klaebo is a bit good. Lying second on his 3rd and final section, comes to a steep hill in a gaggle of 4 teams, pulls to the right and apparently ignites his afterburner.

Never seen anything like it. Just disappeared into the distance against other world-class skiers. He looks a big lad, rather like Matthew Pinsent, and I reckon he must have massive lung capacity. I was a tad impressed.

(Like others, I cringe at the commentary on snowboarding events. It's all a bit "down with the kids". Just commentate please - no need to pretend you're a doped teenager.)

I can't remember the last time I saw that many points won in a single end in curling.

The women’s biathlon relay is an absolute rollercoaster!!! Those conditions are nasty and being born out by the shooting results, I’ve never seen so many penalty loops in a relay!!!

IIRC, top class Nordic Skiers have the highest VO2 max scores recorded above other endurance athelets such as rowers, cyclists & runners, etc..

I'll have a dig about and see if I can find the report.

I suspect there are a couple of reasons for it. One being that it's a relatively long event over the period of the games and the other being we're actually quite good at it and are still it in after a few days smile
