I've done the googling, found some options but looking to see if anyone on here knows a lot more than me about getting a custom bowling ball made?

Manufacturers to stay clear of? Something an enthusiastic but clueless person wouldnt consider when buying one?

I bowl maybe 3 times a month, I pretty much suck at the sport but i just keep going and really enjoy myself- so my own ball is a waste of money but its worth it to me.

Any experts care to share some tips about getting a ball made / customised for me?

No idea about the specifics of bowling, but there is a running mantra with stuff like this. “Get some lessons”. Getting better at a sport/game will give you more satisfaction when you play, far more so than new equipment.

Yeah I agree with that in most cases, but I am not that bothered about getting any better- I play with friends and the missus. Getting a ball is more about having something which fits better, I doubt it will make me a better bowler smile.

I suppose you’re a ‘straight’ bowler rather than ‘hook’?

I’m a fairly experienced bowler so I have my favourite brand, but if you are learning / would like to start learning to hook, then the best thing to do is to go to your local proshop, who will give you recommendations based on your game and experience.

These guys probably the closest to you.
