I've booked my flights and hotel, but luckily not bought tickets yet. Looks like I'm just having a weekend in NYC.
I was quite interested in going too, as I think it would be an experience at the MSG but my wife wasn't that keen. The promised "fantastic undercard of Brits vs Yanks" hasn't though materialised yet.
Out of interest, why did you hold off getting the tickets?

looks like ortiz is very much the front runner....andy ruiz jr is set to fight dimitrenko on saturday night but has said he would take the joshua fight....his only loss is that very close one to parker a few years ago and he looks to be a very improved fighter... could be an outside bet..he certainly has big enough balls to jump in

I'm just waiting on a couple of useless friends to decide whether they can come or not and that'll dictate which seats and how many to get. They're nowhere near sold out so not too worried just yet. The promised "fantastic undercard of Brits vs Yanks" hasn't though materialised yet.

Luis Ortiz would be a good replacement imo, he gave Wilder a good fight.
Is he too high risk? He's a decent fighter and could give AJ trouble at short noticeOrtiz has power, but AJ should be able to keep him away you would think and Ortiz may run out of steam due to shorter camp.
An exciting match up of it happens.
Ortiz is a much better fight than Miller but I think AJ comfortably beats Ortiz and stops him in the middle rounds. Wilder regularly gets ouboxed (see Washington, Szpilka, Ortiz and almost Fury) only to win a from behind KO which I think makes Ortiz seem better than he was. I actually rate Ortiz as a great counter puncher as he lands crisp hard combos in return fire but AJ is nowhere near as sloppy as Wilder and wouldn't be open for those same counters.
I think AJ is in a very tough position as Hearn won't want to reschedule the fight date and there are a lot of fighters who are claiming that the camp will be too short or that they want more than Miller's promised purse. Ortiz for example is asking for more than double what Miller was going to get paid.
Whoever the opponent, I think it's hard to apportion any blame on Joshua.

Easy to apportion blame on Joshua for not taking a proper fight in the first place TBF
Yeah I kind of see that. They obviously wanted a fight to break him into the American audience but the problem you have there is that Kownacki, Hunter and Ruiz Jr are not well known and Wilder flat out didn't want the fight. So you're left with Whyte (who himself has been frozen out for way too long) and that fight doesn't really make sense in the U.S. Looking at it from that perspective, Miller was an alright choice but I'd much rather he got in there with Ortiz from the get go.Gameface said:
I don't care who he fights, I'm bored of Joshua and all the bullst around him.
I don't understand this position. In my eyes he's caught up in the politics of the H/W division, he doesn't seem to be the person who ducks a challenge. It's those who surround him that create the bullst as you put it. Look at Wilder and Fury, they are both playing the same game, it's what happens in the sport all the time. I like AJ a lot, and I'm sure given the chance he would be in the ring with the top guys, but I don't think that the politics and everything else will allow it.
