They are potentially doing a Matchroom vs Queensberry night.

Frank Warren has reached out and wants to be friends with Eddie!

Would be good if they made Yarde vs Buatsi and Williams vs Andrade

Yarde vs Buatsi doesn't make sense to me. Not a PPV fight, so money wouldn't be that great for the fighters - and why would Yarde risk his reputation against Buatsi at this stage? Agree would be interesting, but there doesn't seem much upside for Yarde, so won't happen.

I believe Williams vs Andrade has been mandated by the WBO so that is likely to happen.

I suspect the aim of Warren's poster and press release was to try take back the moral high ground from Matchroom by trying to be seen as "fan friendly" rather than being a serious offer.

This is Frank trying to grab some column inches and as said above an attempt to take the moral high ground and control the conversation.

I would be surprised if anything came of it just yet.

What is the hold up with Williams vs Andrade?

Matchroom keeping Andrade’s options open in case Billy joe Saunders needs an opponent?

Andrade needs a meaningful fight, he’s nothing but easy touches since signing with matchroom. At least Williams will give him a fight and will show if Andrade is really world level.

Simple answer is covid.

The secondary answer is that, now we are back with no-audience boxing, the fighters are holding out for the same money as before, whilst the networks (and promoters) want to make the purses more "realistic" reflecting the fact there is no gate money currently.

So there are quite a few fights which could be happening but are stalled.

I'd be confident in saying its not really the fighters who are demanding more but the whole gravy train sat behind them.

Very few boxers are in it for the money

Anyone watch Carroll Vs Hughes last night?

i didn't but very pleased for Maxi, as I've alluded to before hes a proper good down to earth lad, works a physical job alongside his boxing.

Sounds like Carroll never really got going but you have to give credit to the opponent for not allowing that to happen

In the few rounds I watched it was a battle of distance control with both stepping in and stepping out. They both take random jabs till carroll charged in, punching 3 or 4 times then stepped out. Hughes would either step back, pivot or shell up and take no damage. It was irritating to watch someone try the same thing over and over with no change in affect so I stopped watching it.

Looking forward to Povetkin v Whyte, wonder if Sasha has another good night in him? He could he all kinds of wrong for Whyte, who likes a tear up. Just wonder how his chin has aged?

Are you buying the PPV? At the moment, not sure I am interested enough to pay the PPV cost, and so feel more like watching on youtube the following day.

I might buy it, I have a hunch it might be a war however long it goes. I have, however, been very wrong on more than one previous occasion!!

But there is a belt on the line. Not some stupid pointless belt. this is the WBC Diamond belt.

If that's not worth paying PPV for, what is wink

I believe Sebastian Chabal had one as well. That’s pretty incongruous.
