Jake Paul really is an odious turd, trying to manufacture himself into something he isn't.

I look forward to the point when he gets into the ring with a real boxer.

Happy Liam Williams did himself proud even if Andrade was a step up too far

Williams is definitely fringe world level, hopefully he gets one last chance at a title shot in the coming years

What is certain is any promoter would love to have a Liam Williams on the card, none stop effort from the first bell.

Hopefully he can get out again this summer, I know Frank Warren is looking at 2 outdoor stadium events in August if Covid restrictions allow it.

Incredible that in the total embarrassment and freakshow that was last night's card, it was the only actual boxing match that contained the most farcical, shameful moment.

Boxing can't even make itself look good on a card of celebrities fighting like st. Redkach should be banned from the ring.

What was Redkach wife/girlfriend doing ring side?
Was she in on the fix?
Rumours this was a gambling fix and there was a lot of money on Prograis to win rounds 1-3

I'm not a gambler, but rolling around on the floor pretending to get hit with a low blow from a shot which clearly only grazed the edge of his ribs doesn't look like the wisest move if you were actually trying to take a dive. Surely he just wanted a face-saving way out, and took the same route Khan did against Crawford?

I'm not sure if Liam is really that close to world level, but even so, I really wanted him to win. I even signed up for the £1.99 subscription to Dazn so I could watch it properly rather than on a stream.

But even though I wanted him to lose, I thought Andrade looks impressive. I can see why Charlo and GGG aren't interested.

Agree with all of your post and I also signed up for the same reason.

£1.99 for Andrade vs Williams, a half decent Spanish card next Friday and Canelo vs Saunders is a bargain.
Makes my £25 now tv sky sports subscription look ridiculously expensive in comparison especially as there is no CL or Europa league on Sky.

I dunno why he'd pretend it was a low blow if he was trying to fix the fight, though. Surely you'd just go down holding your kidney? Looked to me like he had enough and was trying to get a DQ or something? (Even though that wouldn't have happened, he would lose if he wasn't ready to fight after 5 mins I think/it would go to scorecards and he'd lose).

If he was just trying to nope out his wife's reaction makes sense because she bought it too. fk knows what was going on though, dodgy as hell for sure.

With Dazn so you get catch up access/ back catalogue or just live broadcasts?

That's a good question - I just checked and there appears to be an archive section with previous fights. Of course, many of those will also be available on youtube, but it is nice to get the original broadcast.

The Liam Williams fight is also there on catch-up.

Yes, I must admit for £1.99 it’s a bargain

I doubt they will keep it at that price long term.

Be interesting if Matchroom join DAZN over sky, especially as DAZN are rumoured to be JP Morgan’s preferred broadcaster for the new European Super League.

JP Morgan are putting up the money for the Europe super league if you wondering why I referenced them.

I know I’m going against the grain here but jake Paul moved like a real boxer.

Not a great boxer but he looked like a fighter rather than as who seems to hold his arms out at full lengths and hop forwards

I'd say it is looking *very* likely that Matchroom will jump ship and go all in with DAZN.

There are several reasons, but mostly resolve to money. Hearn I think has a *very* attractive equity stake in DAZN. And they know DAZN will continue to spend huge amounts to establish themselves over the next 2-3 years. It has allowed them to achieve some special things e.g. Hearn becoming the promoter for Canelo (albeit if only for a temporary period). Plus it has established Matchroom genuinely in the US as one of the top promotional companies (and a real competitor to Top Rank).

In contrast, they could stay with Sky in the UK and risk being sidelined by DAZN. Plus, let's be honest, some of Sky's boxing ambitions (and so budget) outside of the headline PPVs has been fairly poor over the last couple of years.

So if they go with DAZN, Matchroom can continue building their business off the back of DAZN losses - they will be creating for themselves a superb (and very valuable), international promotional company. And if DAZN ever get fed up pouring money down the drain, they will be able to part ways, with Matchroom being a significantly more valuable company than before DAZN turned up.

That is the key question

How long will DAZN be willing to keep funding heavy losses on boxing?

They will probably have to throw Hearn a big war chest to get him from sky.

Sky does seem in decline, the boxing certainly in decline with a number of questionable ppvs.

They are only just getting started with the spending if they want to become Netflix for sports. They know pushing DAZN to be a global sports platform is going to cost big money - I'm sure they will be prepared to spend for the next 2-3 years at least.

And they are already throwing Hearn a massive amount of money - he is putting more time into DAZN shows recently than he has Sky imo.

I think Hearn can't lose by picking DAZN over Sky. He gets to be bankrolled whilst he turns Matchroom from a mainly UK domestic business into a global business with its main focus on the US market. If DAZN become successful, their success will be Hearn's success. And if DAZN get fed up after 2-3 years, they can part ways, leaving Matchroom with a large number of the world's top talent under contract, making them very attractive for other broadcast partners.
