You're obviously right but given he comes up short in every big fight he has had since moving up in weight and has been on the receiving end of some very questionable decisions (Malignaggi & Ponce De Leon spring to mind). He doesn't have the right to trash talk and still get these big fights and pay cheques to boot. It'd be nice if he was kicked into touch.

joe joyce versus bermane stiverne added to the eubank/degale card.... i suppose this will be a good measuring stick for joyce's potential in the upper reaches of the division!!

Good fight for Joyce and will be a good market off his potential. I'm still unsure how good he is/will be.

Bored of the AJ 'negotiation chat'. Has there been a heavyweight champion who has struggled to get opponents like he seems to doing?

Hearn has offered £4m to Whyte to take the fight with AJ. 70-30 split based on expected purse.

A lot of money and possible belts for Whyte to refuse.

He'll know that he's only getting the fight because they couldntake Wilder or Fury work. In normal circumstances I'm sure he'd bite their hand off, but if AJ can't make a fight it's gonna be pretty fking embarrassing for him and Hearne so Whyte probably thinks he can push for more.

Also Hearne is full of st and he probably didn't offer him £4m

Wilders younger brother has turned pro after sparring with Deontay to test himself. Cruiserweight though.

Fights on undercard of Thurman's fight this week, and then UK debut on undercard of Eubank Degale. Not a bad way to build up.

Will be interesting to see him, Thurmans fight is on ITV4 too I think.

Smart guy and very wise words from the big man. He's got the charade sussed. It is a charade at the moment.
I get the feeling Joshua doesn't want to get beaten and it will be engineered, as far as is reasonably practicable, for that not to happen at least until he's utterly brewstered.

The great man would be turning in his grave.

“I'm a fighter. I believe in the eye-for-an-eye business. I'm no cheek turner. I got no respect for a man who won't hit back. You kill my dog, you better hide your cat.”

Muhammad Ali.

Never to be bettered.

Thurman fights tonight! Hope it goes easy for him so the confidence is up and he doesn't take too long to take on a big name.

The obsession with unbeaten records is a real problem now. Fury, Wilder and AJ all have unbeaten records they'll be desperate to protect but at least 2 of them have to lose it, most likely all 3. A proper sort out to decide who's best may end up with 6-9 bouts with each fighter losing and that's much less palatable in the modern era, which is a real shame.

I agree - the more you look at the sport, you realise that often those with apparently unblemished records haven't taken a risk facing top level opposition.

Personally - I'm not too worried if a fighter loses. Khan is a good example of this - I still find him entertaining, despite his frailties. Lomencho is another example, who lost very early in his pro career. Still means I like to watch him.

Agreed. I’m sure it’s nothing new and boxers have been doing whatever they can to protect their ‘0’ for a long time. It’s not as if people look at the likes of M.Ali, Frazier, Paqman, Barerra etc and judge them differently because they never retired unbeaten.

I think some of the is issue with losing is not just the record.
It's that the sanctioning bodies are a nightmare. As such it could take years to get a deserve shot at a title due to the politics in boxing if you drop down the rankings a little.

Marcellus Wilder, the bum who attacked Breazeal at a hotel when he was with his wife & kids, the bum who got in Bellew's face just because he had his security crew backing him, got knocked the f out in 4 rounds by a journeyman who has lost 12 ond only won 6 LOLOL !!!
Thurman just about did enough to win, using his speed and v good movement. He was on very shaky legs in the 7th tho, just a shame Lopez had no power to finish him off.
Kownacki was a fat blob, who only won because Washington is even worse than he was. Neither had any head movement, any foot movement, and both were slow, lumbering, useless, sluggers who will never trouble the top 15.
