Well we'll see, I'm sure Al Haymon, Bob Arum, Mayweather or Golden Boy, not to mention F Warren, The Klitchkos, The Saurelands etc aren't just going to stop signing top talent. Eddie could well end up with the most expensive side show in history. I don't know what it costs to set up a streaming platform, but I wouldn't have thought it's out of the reach of other big players. (besides it's all on YouTube by day 3 anyway).

AJ and Whyte are excluded, so technically its not Huge Matchroom UK but Nearly Huge Matchroom UK wink

So Dazn will need to bid against Sky for their fights.

Lets hope Sky don't ditch boxing like some US networks have.

Sauerlands got bought out last week, they are part of a bigger group and so bigger players.Al and MTK have a reputation for working to lower margins and giving more to the fighters.

Eddie has struggled in the USA but he has got a good break with Canelo falling out with Goldenboy but its a two fight deal. If he can hold onto Canelo then Eddie may start to do better.

I don't have the sky app, but BT give away their BT Sports app free with any £15pm+ mobile contract so do have that. Lots of sport on it, including the most popular UK sport, football. In the US, the one that seems to be competing with Dazn primarily is ESPN's streaming platform ESPN+.

. Eddie seems to be spending more and more time hanging around the UFC and Dana, I really hope it's not his plan to model that business because I think it would be a disaster for boxing.
Not got into UFC but the reputation is that Dana makes the best fight the best? If so I would welcome that business model!!

What, well matched fighters fighting competitive fights regularly, a culture where the '0' is not protected and doesn't mean a fighters end when it inevitably goes, solid bills from prelims to the main event, a travelling show that attracts fans and builds interest around the world and one champ per weight class? Sounds dreadful smile
Well said.

Sky have a "family image" they would want to protect, having said that I cannot believe they allowed Jamie Carragher back to Sky after the whole spitting thing - and I say that as a lifelong Liverpool fan - so Kinnahan/MTK/Sky? anything is possible as Matchroom going to DAZN leaves a gaping chasm in UK unless Sky are planning a graceful exit from non-mainstream (AJ) Boxing. In my opinion a shame because until now nobody put on a show like Matchroom+Sky. Just look at BT, even though they have lots of $$$ to spend it always seems a very amateur production.

yeah...... but that's why they have bought out sauerland!!..... imagine how big the wbss will be with one of the largest sports promotional companies in the world behind it...this deal could really have wasserman arrive on the boxing scene with a bang

Surely the tie between Matchroom as a promotional enterprise and its management of fighters (or very close relationship to them) and having sole broadcast rights over them is in breach of the sports rules. He was exclusive to Sky in the UK before this (and this new deal makes Whyte and Joshua free to negotiate with any network) so it's no change. TopRank are exclusive to ESPN, PBC with Showtime. I agree it's not great but it's also not new.

More money just means more cocaine. Allegedly Sky called wbss but no one answered the phone as they were partying.

MTK don't get high on their own supply. Allegedly biggrin

I really hope the WBSS does get supercharged - absolutely fantastic competitions in the past. I think the Cruiserweight one that culminated in Usyk's domination of Gassiev was probably the high point of boxing in the last decade. Great series topped off with probably the greatest boxing performance I've seen live.

Saunders looking.g absolutely ripped, which must mean he is at least training. Can't wait for this fight.

Same! I post a lot on r/boxing and nobody there seems to be giving Saunders a chance at all, not because if he does 'win' he'll lose on the cards anyway, but because they think he's just going to get blasted out and there's no way it'll be competitive.

I've kept quiet but I really think Saunders will make this a great fight. He shows up when the competition is tough, so I've no worries we won't see the best version of BJS in there and I think he's a bad style for Canelo. He's struggled the most against elusive fighters with great footwork and I think an on-form BJS is the greatest pure boxer the UK has produced.

If BJS gasses like he did against Eubank then he's getting knocked out, but if not I can see him giving Canelo a lot of problems. I think it'll go the distance and BJ will make it a close fight (at least on my scorecard anyway). You can get 7/5 on Canelo to win on points and those look cracking odds to me.

I have said similar many times on this forum and others, I would not be surprised to see Saunders claim a moral victory in a points loss, and, let's face it, a moral victory of any kind will likely be first for Bill!!

I just can't see it myself. Saunders keeps fighters off him with his slick punching and movement, I can see Canelo just walking through all of that with barely a backward step - 12 rounds is a long time.

This is now prime Canelo and I don't think anyone under 175 can live with him for the next couple of years.

Nah.
BJS tries to win and he gets stopped.
BJS tries to make it to the end and he loses a very one sided contest.

I only see a Billy Joe Saunders victory, I think he gives Canelo a lesson and announces himself as a great of the sport.
