Just 26 days to go until England vs South Africa to open the tournament.

Anyone going and who is your money on. I am off to England vs West Indies on June 14 and I think the Aussies will go very well with Smith and Warner back in the side.

Should be a cracking set of matches. Other predictions welcome.

Such a shame that the likes of Scotland, Ireland, Nepal, Holland etc aren’t at the World Cup. Surely a World Cup should have more representation than this one will have.

My (imaginary) money is on England winning. Their batting is now so dynamic and they bat all the way down to 10.

Think Australia will do well too. Not sure about India though - they’re carrying quite a few veterans in their side and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to me if they don’t even make the semis. Also think South Africa will struggle - without ABDV their batting looks weak (still can’t get over his retirement - when you’re fit, healthy and in form why retire when there’s a World Cup round the corner?).

Don’t have much hope for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. And not sure what to expect from New Zealand and the WIs.

Looking forward to see Afghanistan play - they’ve come such a long way in such a short time.

We did very well today against Pakistan, Buttler 100 in 50 balls and bowled well at the end

England have to be favourites but you do worry about there ability to implode. My son’s school was playing in a tournament at Merchant Taylor’s school in North London yesterday, Sri Lanka are using one of their (eight or nine!!) pitches as a practice venue...was great watching pro’s playing a practice match on what felt like a traditional village cricket ground. The team very kindly signed 100 very excited kids gear after their lunch.

Lucky enough to be going to Env v Oz at Lords and also the Final. Hopefully that’ll have England in it too!

For me the tournament is wide open. England may be favourites but means little.
They have the ability, no doubt about that, but have they the nouse/minerals/bottle/luck to go all the way? That is open to question.
All the top sides are all capable of beating each other and are all decent outfits.
It will all boil down to who can put together a run of wins at the business end of it.
I have a feeling WI could do some damage.
Looking forward to it. Will be a great summer of cricket with the Ashes to follow.

Yesterday made Jofra Archer look even better as a selection.

I think the West Indies well may be the dark horses this summer.

See Smith & Warner are in the Aussie squad, they are going to get st loads of abuse this summer.

And then some. I can't wait to see and hear what the Barmy Army have in store for Smith and Warner Sanding Services Pty, no job too small, etc.

I love the latest Fosters tv ad, as well.

This is a rare golden opportunity for the England fans to get stuck into the Crims, and must not be wasted.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in an Aus dressing room.

There must be some residual ill feeling towards Smith and wker from the rest of the squad for the damage they did to Aus cricket.

Personally, if I were an Aus player I wouldn't want them anywhere near the team ever again and would make sure they fking well knew it.

The stick they will get this summer, obviously, will be vicious and never ending. I hope they fail to deal with it.

Justin Langer has already warned the Australian players that they're in for a character-building tour.

Good.

Let's hope that the Barmy Army and English fans can get to them, not just Smith, Warner and Donald, if he's selected, but also the likes of Legend In His Own Lunchtime Nathan Lyon, who's never short of pomposity and self-aggrandisment without the skill or ability to back it up.

yes

Watched a fair bit of him in the IPL and yes I know it's a different format however his bowling at the death of an innings is fantastic - he's got so much control and can get those yorkers in at will. He's also a good fielder and more than capable lower order batsman who can score quickly. England should pick him in their squad and final 11.

Isn't the first Ashes test at Edgbaston? The ground where Mitchell Johnson was being sledged by 27,000 people the last time there was an Ashes test there? There's one at Headingley as well, where they have a stand called the Western Terrace. No Australian wants to field in front of the Western Terrace.

This thread is about the World Cup....which will be history by the time The Ashes is played! Warner will thrive on it I reckon...I reckon if I was the England players I’d want no special treatment for him. Smith might be different...doubt either will go anywhere near the boundary apart from walking on and off the ground!

I remember Johnson copping a load on the 2010/11 tour from the Barmy Army.
