Hot off the heals of the tour comes the Giro, really enjoying this crammed season of racing, this one looks like it could be a cracker too.

I was trying to find it on free to air, thanks. Much better than S4C with commentary in welsh.

Thomas looks like he could be in form, not sure though who the main contenders will be.

Apparently there is a rider called Michael Matthews in the race. The Eurosport commentators may have mentioned him several millions times...

It's a shame that Eurosport don't do a proper 1 hr highlights programme like ITV4 do with the Tour and Vuelta. Would make keeping up to date far easier

They talk a lot about the "GCN Breakaway" show. But I'm dammed if I'm paying £40 a year to watch on demand stuff from their website.

Watching highlights , weather is lovely on Sicily .
Meanwhile Piedmonte is being lashed by storm Alex and much of it is flooded.

I think there is a 1 hour highlights programme on Quest - Sky 144 iirc.

  • edit to add - this may have been mentioned earlier on in the thread!!**

There are highlights on Eurosport 1 or 2 of each stage at least 3 times in the evening/night after a stage and again immediately before the next days stage comes on live too (it's not all on Demand).

Looks like he might be back in the bunch?

Apparently a second crash for him? - looked the like team left him to fend for himself with just Ganna to pull him back?

He'll be off the back when they start climbing though

Yates as well now?

I know 3 week tour and all of that, but could be huge losses today - not a good day for Brit GC hopes.

Even stopping the film at 51 secs I cant tell if it's a bidon or an aluminium drinks can. Anyone recognise it?

It was a Barhain-Merida bottle. Cant beleive how many stray bottles there were in that section just thrown on the ground right in the middle of the peleton. Ridiculous and an accident waiting to happen. There was a shot of the peleton a bit later on where all the riders seemingly dumped all their food rubbish at the same time creating what looked like some sort of energy bar wrapper confetti. They should get all of the team managers go and pick it all up, or better still just make a rule where the riders just put the st back in their pockets.

I think the guilty bottle will have jumped out of its super duper 5 gram carbon fibre holder when the rider hit a bump - the race hadn't passed the neutralised stage so no-one will be chucking bottles at that point.

I think I'm right in saying they are told where they can dump their rubbish so it can be easily collected.
