I'm loving the GCN app - best cycling purchase in a while - the interface might not be the smoothest and it does seem to munch data, but for a few quid, the amount of uninterrupted coverage has already paid for itself. Added to the fact I can sit and watch it when pretending to work
The only real criticism is that Rob Hatch puts too much effort into over pronouncing everything with a faux local accent. I can't shake the image of a guy ordering Chorizo and Bruschetta with a comedy dialect impression.
Yesterday's stage was a cracker - a massive win for Sunweb to get the stage and pink jersey, but it could have so easily went the other way. Going to be glued to the telly Saturday and then the TT will hopefully be a tense one as well. Ride of the day has to be Dennis - for a big TTer he was holding his own against the mountain goats.

Good to see Dan Martin get a stage at the Vuelta.
He's a great rider, but luck rarely follows him. I still wince at his crash as he was leading the LBL, on the last corner and within spitting distance to the line. If a piece of space hardware fell to earth, it would land on Dan, about 25m from the finish line...
Two great stages yesterday, Giro and Vuelta.

And he likes to shout excitedly over the top of his co-commentator. Much like David Croft, actually.Castrol for a knave said:

Absolutely - great to see him win in the Vuelta. I've can't recall seeing him so emotional at the end of a race like he was yesterday - it clearly meant a lot to him He's a great rider, but luck rarely follows him.
Question then.
Can Tao win the Giro?
Good day tomorrow and hold his own in the TT?
re: Rob Hatch, had a Twitter chat with him a while ago when he was moaning about Brexit. His reason to stay in the EU was entirely die to the Erasmus scheme he participated on. I thought that a little too focused on a positive, but that something similar would probably evolve outside the EU. IIRC we agreed to disagree in the end.
His "faux" accent is because he's genuinely fluent in several languages. (Spanish, Italian and French according to the internet) Which is a skill always worth applauding imo. Though like a lot of commentators his enthusiasm is sometimes a bit much. But I'll take a thousand Rob Hatches over a single Carlton Kirby! (Who I'm sure is a lovely guy, but just prone to waffling)
I will admit I did smile when RH said yesterdays Giro stage will be remembered for years. Maybe by those who were there. But like football matches, F1 races, anything outside the Olympics quite frankly, once a stage is over it's already history and people focus on the next one.

Big day today. Rumours are that Ineos weren’t supportive of the stage being shortened yesterday, presumably because they thought Sunweb were on the ropes and wanted to keep them there.
I really hope that the Ineos train can get to work for Tao Geoghegan Hart today. If Dennis can dig as deep as he did over the Stelvio, anything is possible.
Does anyone have any idea what sort time TGH would be expected to lose to Kelderman in the final TT? I think he was about 30-odd seconds down on Kelderman on stage 1 but not sure how hard he’d have been going considering he was expecting to be riding for G rather than himself at that point.

Impossible to say what he'll lose, 3 weeks into a Tour and anything could happen, look what happened last month, anyway we're set for a cracking finale.I really hope that the Ineos train can get to work for Tao Geoghegan Hart today. What a stage. Rohan Dennis has suddenly become the sport’s preeminent mountain domestique. Incredible ride from him and so happy that Tao Geoghegan Hart is so close to the win now.
I may have shouted a lot at the TV in the closing kilometres.
Likewise! I'd planned a snooze but Tao put paid to that ideaI may have shouted a lot at the TV in the closing kilometres.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Has G been feeding Rohan his mountain goat pellets? Wtf has this come from suddenly?!
Has a team ever fielded 4 Grand Tour winners before?! Has Carapaz got a chance of making it 5?!
Ineos are crap this year don’t forget. Dominance long gone. Broken. Brailsford is washed up.
British cycling a busted flush. Just lucky with Wiggo, Cav, G and Froome. Wouldn’t win anything again once they have gone...
I bet Carthy is just a fluke an all...
