Haven't read all of the last few pages but seen a lot of discussion on handicaps and how they fluctuate.

Just in case anyone is not aware, here is how they calculate your handicap depending on your number of rounds played:

https://dfdghbz6643ia.cloudfront.net/2021/04/WHSch...

So you will see some big fluctuations until you get more rounds in.
That’s very helpful - hadn’t seen the adjustment for the early rounds.

It was interesting to watch the two officials tell him face to face then console him by standing beside him and patting his back... way to get yourself isolating/catch covid eek
I thought it was great to see both officials reactions to his immediate distress. He doesn't have ebola, they both were masked and touched his shirt. It's not like they gave him a french kiss.

He played some superb golf yesterday, can't imagine how gutting that would feel.

Has to go down as one of the worst ways to be disqualified from a tournament, almost as bad as The Open where two players forgot to swap cards on the 1st tee and manged to mark their own cards. Can't remember what year it was but one of them was in a good position to win that year.

Wanted to look at some wedges so have booked myself in to AG this morning. This could get expensive as I keep telling myself my 20 year old cheap clubs are fine and I only need wedges.
It got expensive.

I reckon a set of ping irons and drivers to go with the wedges.

Aye I think Rahm had a DQ or a penalty added on, perhaps at that tournament in a previous year, for playing a ball that moved ever so slightly. The commentators alluded to it but I was only half listening. It will be a strange atmosphere for the ‘winner’ this evening.

Ebola transmits with bodily fluid and covid is airborne, so, yes it would’ve been perfectly safe to give him a cuddle if he had Ebola hehe I know what you mean, and I hope you know what I’m getting at too though: the Tour has been extremely careful with their covid guidance and “optics” then yer boys are out there physically consoling only the 4th positive testing player.

Almost. The Pings were actually my 2nd favourite, but I ended up with the Cobra Radspeed irons, 5-SW with a stiff shaft. I was getting over 12,000rpm spin speed on my current clubs and the shaft was way too flexible.

Didn’t buy any additional wedges in the end because hopefully the new sand wedge gives me more confidence than my old one. Drivers I may get some 2nd hand ones at some point.

Still a 6-10 week wait on the irons. They said they’re not even demoing things like Taylormade irons at the moment because you wouldn’t get them before December.

Nice, the Radspeed get a good write up from all the reviews I’ve seen. I have the Forge Tec one length with the Radspeed driver and 3 wood and have a lesson this week to find out how to hit the 3.

It kind of convinced me when I hit one shot 161 yards with a 7 iron, and another shot I totally duffed and it went 143 yards and 15 yards off centre. If I can be that accurate and get nice consistent distances then that works for me.

As a dedicated duffer I can confirm that you'll get the same effect from Ping G425s. They're made in Britain and they won't take 10 weeks to arrive.

That was the other clubs I liked. The Cobra’s are also made in the UK apparently. Pings are 12 weeks lead time at the moment.

Well. Yesterday’s comp was a bit of a mixture.

Shot 38 on the front 9 (3 over) which is my best ever start, then proceeded to throw it away on the back nine with two lost balls and shot 47…

Still, 15 over total which meant after my 14 handicap I was one over net. Still a reasonable round for me but could have been so much more!

That’s why we all keep coming back!

Not the best round today. It got off to a bad start with the Club pro, coming all the way from the pro shop to the 1st tee to tell one of our group to tuck his shirt in. It’s this kind of stuck up antiquated fkwittery that puts off so many from taking up golf.

I’ve had that at the Burgess in Edinburgh. At my home course I’m more likely to see folk topless than with their shirts tucked in.

Really? Mine arrived 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks after I ordered them.

I've often said that many people play golf just so they can be annoyed by things that there is no need to be annoyed by.

There is definitely no reason for golf to be quite as snobby as it is. I can’t see why they shouldn’t let people wear jeans for example, just ask for no ripped jeans. Also the need to tuck your t-shirt in is a bit old and snobby. If they want golf to be open to all then stop it being so stuffy. Oh, and throw away half of the rule book cos it’s stupid. Getting a penalty for not swapping cards for example when on tv. It’s not like they really need to keep their own scores whatsoever.

A couple of years back, the club pro suggested that my playing partner should be aware that some of the members might object to his trousers. Because the pockets were on the outside, i.e. not tailored.

I was playing with my son, who was 13 at the time.

I think most companies assemble the clubs in the destination country. My Forge Tec were put together in the UK as they are custom length, also the Vokey wedge I've got on order is the same. I guess it is cheaper to ship them disassembled from a cost and tax front?
