I don't do Twitter and have only seen an image, but is the @Farby75 in the #racist tweet Paul Farbrace? As in the former England assistant coach and Ollie Robinson's step-father.

Apparently was a reason Yorks binned him - is it fair to be punished twice for being a dick?

I've just turned on the TV for the first time to see the end of the innings.

Great knock by their opener but for the runout he'd have been the first ever debutant to carry his bat in the first innings. and a decent bowling effort today,

Anyone know long Lords has as the boundary brought in so much? Can't say I've noticed it like that for a test before.

Wasn't entirely sure about that run out - enough doubt between tv frames to save the batsman?

Gets ready to activate the shortcut key that automatically types "England batting collapse" FFS

I wish they'd stop saying things like, this looks like an excellent surface for batting, or the game is finely poised until we've negotiated the first 30 overs or so. Assuming we last 30 overs that is, after the India series, that has looked doubtful at times.

Good game though, England were actually pretty good in the field, so all credit to New Zealand/Devon Conway Twitty for posting a decent total.

Not being much of a cricket expert, what do the players numbers signify? Numbers like 88 and 90 seem very high for a game with 11 players.

For most they may be just numbers, or a lucky number etc. Joe Root's number is 66, I suppose in reference of Route 66, but probably another reason.. or I am over thinking it.

Maybe 1 to 11 would be too boring!

The numbers on their backs are self-chosen, the same way F1 drivers and some other sports can choose their own number. They also have another number under their shirt breast emblem, which is their all-time chronological player number for their team.

As a Kiwi fan we seem perpetually in need of good batsmen so hopefully this continues.

Couple of showers tomorrow afternoon by the look of it.

Went to Lords for the second day with my son who was the only child I saw in the ground ! God it was a pleasure to be watching live sport again, seemed almost surreal. Can’t fail but be impressed with how NZ play their cricket. The way Jimmy A was diving around in the field I reckon it’ll be Mr Broad who retires first ! No idea what the back story is with Conway, wonder why he never got a look in with SA ? Sibley you could say was unlucky but then you could also say they bowled to a plan and nailed him....Crawley needs to get his had down, appalling cricket, Burns played really well and Root dug in when the Kiwi’s were bowling well at him. Fingers crossed for tomorrow !

Quota system restricts the number of places available for white players, they earn better money playing abroad and generally it's safer with better quality of life overseas. Lots of white South African sportspeople end up moving within the Anglosphere.

Quite apart from the vast amount of Kolpak players plying their trade in the county system, not to mention leagues all over the world, the Saffers seem to have a surfeit of players who would probably have got into their team based on their performances elsewhere. Kevin Pietersen for example, or Marnus Labuschagne, who was a nasty surprise for England fans when he replaced Steve Smith in the last Ashes. Colin De Grandhomme is an underrated player, (in a team full of underrated players) he'd easily get into the England side on form alone.
