My old place would have been open, on normal greens but temp tees, in this weather because the ground is properly frozen and you don't do any damage when walking on ground like this. (the greens would have been a joke to try and hit onto, as mentioned due to them being solid)

The course would be closed though when only the top was frozen, so that when you walked on it you broke the surface and left longer lasting indentations/footprints/damage.
Frost does not damage grass, but walking on it severely damages it.

Are you talking <300 quid here or above?

For the condition its always seen in on Euro Tour its probably worth that as you'll be getting decent weather as well.

It's 450 euro for the round, 60 euro for the caddy and 60 if you require a buggy. So looking at 420gbp more or less all in.

Can a round of golf ever be worth that much? I doubt it but guess I won't know until after.

Ouch. That puts my $350-ish dollars for a round at TPC Scottsdale into perspective. Still I played terribly, so on a dollar-per shot basis it worked out OK biggrin

I guess you could look at you are paying 100 quid an hour of enjoyment, some blokes seek that down dark alleys, we hit a little white ball.

I'd rather not have a caddy tbh though as that would feel like I was being ushered along.

My Scottsdale round was the only time I have ever had a caddy and I wasn't keen either. However in the event he was brilliant - fun to chat to, obviously incredibly knowledgeable, had some great stories about caddying for the pros, and not to mention a million times better at reading the greens than I was.

Plus he was very patient. Although at one point he did observe "I have never seen anybody play from this part of the course before" biggrin

What are you looking at with those numbers?

The club speed is pretty good but those distance numbers seem 10-20% too high for the club speed.

Is skytrak so the club speed is only calculated.

The only numbers I take notice of are - carry, launch angle, spin and dispersion.

I make that about £480 including a buggy....

Big money, hope it lives up to it and you enjoy it!

Still in 2 minds over buggy, it's quite a trek and hilly in places, July will be a little toasty there, but on the flip side people say you need to walk it to really experience it...

Most courses are better walked. In a buggy it's just hit then zoom to the next shot. Walking lets you see what's going on and actually enjoy the time on the course. Especially true on a top course that you're playing for the first time.
