Doesn't Fury have another fight left on his contract I seem to remember? ....
Pretty sure this is his last fight of his Top Rank deal. I think his deal with BT Sport deal might go on for a bit longer, but I'm not sure.

That was him just trying to say something which grabbed the headlines, after Whyte failed to turn up the press conference yesterday.

He's been full of contradictions over the last few years about his plans to retire.

I actually think he'll do it. Fury's end game was realistically unification, I just cant see that happening with the world right now.

I predict over the next 2 months we'll see the sporting impact of the Ukranian invasion...
Joshua / Usyk will fall by the wayside, its just not important and Joshua trying to force it will not do his public support any good. The sanctioning bodies are not going to strip Usyk of his titles given what's going on so Joshua will fight somebody for an interim title which is of no interest to Fury. I cant see fury fighting Joshua without the remaining belts at stake.

fk me.... you've got povetkin putting up instagram posts supporting putin and his "defending citizens against a nazi regime",

you've got joshua stating " i wish usyk and the klitschkos all the best, i don't want to say any more incase i say the wrong thing"

you've got fury making it all about himself talking about how "when the russians get here, me and my dad will sign up with the boys"

what the actual fk is going on....meanwhile, lomachenko, usyk, wlad and vitali have taken up arms on the front line in kiev to defend their sovereignty ....

I watched one of the interviews he gave after the press conference yesterday when he repeated this retirement claim, but it didn't sound believable to me.

Plus he has a very clear path to earn upwards of $100m for a fight with Usyk, Joshua and then an exhibition with Ngannou. Even if he only did two of those three, I think the pull of the money is too great.

Agree, the Ukrainian war could delay Usyk/Joshua. I doubt the conflict is sustainable from a political point of view for more than few weeks. So maybe it could affect Joshua's fight, but perhaps the longer term effect on Fury might be lower.

That's definitely the Russian narrative - "denazification of Ukraine from the aggressors persecuting the good people of Donbas".

Only slight flaw in that reasoning is the Ukraine President is from Jewish heritage, so quite why he would be Nazi is unclear.

I think Joshua would still do well to fight Fury. In his mind he beats Fury and then just waits for Usyk and the rematch is a unified fight with a guy who (for the most horrible of reasons) has a huge profile now following the win and the war.

Anyway for me personally I would like to see Usyk alive, not in a Russian prison and back over here going through Joshua and Fury to unify.

My first thought when I saw the retirement article was that it's just to drum up sales for this one... then he'll come out of retirement for Joshua/Usyk.

Thought's are with Usyk, Loma, Wlad, Vitaly and all of the Ukrainian people... but I was suckered into Fury's hype!

2 tickets, on the floor, for Fury vs Whyte whistling their way to me via Ticketmaster!

Well, to play Devil’s advocate, black and Indian people (including children) are being prevented from leaving the country and Israel’s human rights record against the Palestinians is closer to Nazism and Apartheid than they’d like to admit.

It is extremely ironic to see Israelis supporting Ukraine.

Tried to get tickets but as everything that Ticketmaster handle it became a joke, Viagogo littered with them now.

If for whatever reason Fury did retire after this next fight, he will never be regarded as one of the greats.
It would leave too many questions relative to the heavyweights he hasn't fought.

Styles makes fights and theirs likely someone out there that can beat him.
For a fighting man I feel he's picked his fights carefully, even if I have to accept he's worked hard to put himself in that position.
But he's simply not fought enough top level fighters in recent years.

I am using the Viagogo 'appreciation' to make myself feel better about what I did pay!

I was in the pre-queue to get into the main queue at ~11:40am and when I did get in at 12pm; there were 59000+ people in front of me and it took until ~1:10pm to get seats!

I am guessing it is pretty much completely sold out already, albeit the secondary market will be flooded by tomorrow!

WOW

That is one of the fights of the decade! Top recommendation cheers!
You're welcome mate! I read a great deal more than I post on PH, but when I watch a fight like that (at whatever level) I'll go immediately here and let anyone who's interested know about it! smile You couldn't have scripted that one, that's for sure.

anybody buying this possible rematch rumour for Khan?

It stinks of Khan realizing he now owns Brook with a restrictive rematch clause he wants buying out of. He pretty much confirmed his retirement in the days afterwards so you'd hope that would get rid of any claim he has to setting a rematch up. He was so cagey about retirement talk probably for this very reason.

The promoter said after the fight that Khan only had 3 weeks after the fight to take on the rematch

Fury talking about retiring after the Whyte fight. Is he bluffing?

He'll have dodged Usyk and the Joshua fight if so.
