Whyte is a slight step up from Chisora, he got dumped by a beauty from Povetkin remember, something he was good at!

Wilder is far better than people thought, he pushed Fury very hard, first fought in particular, Fury had to play dirty to make sure next two, all fine, its the game.

Usyk I am not sure, he is probably the best technically but is limited with power and a few other things.

AJ for me has the most potential but maybe it is now squandered as he seems relatively easy to knock out sadly, but i do think anyone would fear the VK AJ, he was magnificently brutal, he needs to go Tyson i think, all aggression and power.

I don't think he is good enough to outbox a Fury and clearly not an Usyk but he is the nicest guy out there and that stand for a lot with the public.

I still think many people simply want to see Fury knocked out, as he is now showing what he really is.

If I a semi casual fan with 10% of the knowledge of a lot of you guys knew the outcome way before I'm sure AJ must have known Usyk was a proper fight. He can't have looked at Franklin and thought that will be a pushover either. There's something not right with him I don't think he's deluded he just likes a challenge! What even was the last fight he had that was a tune up? Had he even ever had one?
The Takham fight, Takham took that on 2 weeks notice & he was very resilient , so much so AJ was gssing & the ref stepped in with a too early stoppage , which is just what AJ needed ...

Usyk limited?
He is a phenomenon.

it's the chicken and the egg.
Wilder better that at first thought as he did well against fury.
Fury great because he beat wilder.

Think you're doing yourself a disservice. Honestly I was surprised how much of a circle jerk this thread was about Usyk before his first AJ fight. Hard-pressed to find a single person on r/boxing that agreed with me when I said Usyk would beat him, but here there were plenty, yourself included that both said it and detailed exactly how and why and we're vindicated. You clearly know your stuff

I think most everyone on here is more than a casual fan and am pretty sure most everyone picked Usyk over AJ, guy was a nightmare for AJ? I certainly recall Usyk being heavily tipped on here to beat the big fella

Yes, agreed. Most of us agreed Usyk was going to be the likely victor, which was in contrast to most other places I discuss boxing. Generally, the people who's opinion on boxing I trust the most, though, were SURE Usyk would beat him.

Well very nice of you to say so I'm no historian but I have seen everyone of Usyk's fights at least once and AJs it just seemed like the bookies and seemingly everyone else was wrong! I recall to be fair that even on this thread AJ was favourite!

One thing I don't do is watch any press conferences/weigh ins etc I've literally never watched one so you don't get involved with the hype I don't know if that helps.

Anyone with an ounce of boxing nous was sure Usyk would beat AJ

I think the reason many here were confident was that they knew they were looking at a generational talent in Usyk. It seems that some people still don't see it.

It sounds harsh but AJ had to win by stoppage; he was never going to outbox Usyk. No other pro has and AJ didn't have the pedigree to do it either. Unfortunately for AJ, very few people have landed on the Ukrainian either.

Things like Usyk's size and his less than explosive performance against Chisora sowed a few seeds of doubt but it was a great betting opportunity.

I am a massive fan. I hope he stays on the scene for a while, gets all the belts and then walks away healthy as all time great.

I just think it was the clichéd styles make fights. Usyk was and is all sorts of wrong for AJ. I think Usyk is the best cruiser in history but I'm still not convinced at heavy, yeah, yeah, I'm a tough crowd. He has to beat Fury to be considered the best of this generation in my opinion and I just think Fury is all wrong for him...but we are now unlikely to find that out. Joyce is the one to watch for me.

Fury has bottled it against Usyk. I might not be able to prove that but if they never fight that will be the overwhelming opinion that will go down in history and deservedly stain Fury's already less than stellar record.

I think Usyk will dance around slow Joe all night but it's still a fight I would like to see. The joke in all this is Dubois. There is no way he is worthy of a world title fight.

Why would he bottle it, he’s been in with far bigger punchers. For me Fury bears Usyk all day long, he’s too big and too clever. Agreed on Dubois, he’s not at the level that he’s talked himself into. Watched a bit of Franklin yesterday and can’t see he’s going to be any trouble for AJ, but not sure what version of AJ will turn up. If it’s a peek a boo fight from him it won’t be enough for me and with the judges being what they are….who knows?

I don't know if he has bottled it but he has been the sticking point for sure, and yes, history will remember it that way and his legacy will suffer because of it. I think he is all about the money and hang the legacy. I think he beats Usyk and AJ but we may never know and it becomes one of history's what ifs? Shame, I just wish he'd be honest. I wouldn't hold it against any fighter of they turned round and said 'look, I'm financially secure, and I just don't need this anymore. I can't out myself through the training anymore, I just don't want to', but he hasn't, he has preeened and postured and led everyone a merry dance, and in doing so, made fans like me think he did the same v AJ when it was proposed. st or get off the pot. Just don't keep mouthing off

I'd love to see Joe rematch Usyk. Both are different fighters now and big slow Joe just keeps coming and keeps catching people. I'd suspect Usyk still beats him, different level of skill set but the relentless physicality, iron chin and endless engine of Joe could wear him out

Neither Fury nor Joshua are leaving behind a ‘legacy’ nor really being particularly remembered in boxing history. The last ‘legacy’ heavies are Lennox and Wlad.

In which case surely it should be an easy night's work for the lion's share of a huge purse?

Nah, he doesn't fancy it at all.

The only thing that will ever beat Joyce is Father time. Nobody is going to knock him out maybe Usyk could keep out of his way and outpoint him but no other heavyweight would be quick enough.

Usyk beat Joyce up in the Super series but yes both different fighters Joyce has been hard anodized with kryptonite since then!

Maybe some of the younger guys in the division might pick him off if he stays too long but at his own now you would have to be brave/stupid or getting paid a lot of money to fight him. None of the top guys will!
