The Real Whacker just given me my first win of the day. And when I say *just* redface Barely more than a nose in it.

Hoping Sa Fureur does the business in the next.

Alas I didn't take my own advice. Willy Mullins strikes again!

How many horses will die this year?
Disgraceful!
Should we ban driving too? Loads more die on the roads every year
Drivers have a choice and are aware of the risks, horses do not have the ability to perform any sort of risk assessment.

Sadly 8year old Malinello died on Tuesday. That is the 70th horse to die at Cheltenham in the past 20years.
something needs to change or hurdle racing will inevitably be banned.

Indeed, I am miles of it this week.

Mighty Potter almost a cert in the first so do I lump on that ? Appreciate It with Townend/Mullins combo is telling me not to.

Always being let down by 1 on my doubles/trebles. SO maybe a change a plan for the last 2 days.

There is zero chance of racing being banned. It’s also National Hunt, not hurdle racing. If your going to do outrage, at least get the terminology right, otherwise it looks like you haven’t actually done any proper research.

No outrage. 70 horse deaths in 20years at Cheltenham (where I live) is awful. Horse racing will not be banned but (thankyou for correcting my terminology) National Hunt will be if it is not sorted out to stop beautiful, amazing horses dying needlessly. Only a matter of time.

It would also stop beautiful, amazing horses being born....

So sad this thread has been invaded by the 'anti' brigade.

Cheltenham, along with other racecourses, provide the best protection for both horses and riders, yet accidents happen. This shouldn't be an excuse to stop the sport, or do those who wish it, are happy to lose the reason for these thoroughbred horses to exist?

I live just up the road from Cheltenham race course and I’m quite interested.

Worked from a bar in town on Tuesday with the races on, had a great day. Couldn’t pick a loser and lumped all the profits on Honeysuckle!

Went to the Gold Cup yesterday, and enjoyed it but doubt I’d do it again unless corporate/boxes. Saw some great racing (although couldn’t pick a winner), but the overcrowding Vs facilities is something else - probably not something that would’ve bothered me in my 20’s.

Will deffo be back at Cheltenham soon, for the smaller race meets. Enjoy Newbury races too and will continue to go there also.

King of the £2 bets me ! I had some larger bets on Pembroke, ahoy senor, alegory de vassy, Lossiemouth

Stay away Fay at 24.0 … £2 though smile

A bit cheesed off i missed that premiere magic , usual Cheltenham profile of a pointer coming over and hustling at a big price . 110.0 available on the exchange

This is something we've seen develop over the last 10-15 years; courses packing the crowds in to maximise profits, especially the outrageous food/ drinks prices.....

I recall going to Aintree on Friday in the early/mid 00s; and it was mad; queues for food, the bars, bookies and the toilets.....It was impossible to go to the parade ring for each race and then go to the racecourse to get a decent price from the rows of bookies. It becomes un-enjoyable, and you end up seeing less than watching on TV.

I think its best going to one of the none festival meetings, probably mid week for a more relaxed feel.

I never understand why they don't schedule the races further apart and start earlier. 40mins isn't long enough to queue for food/drinks, toilets, bookies etc. They should be an hour apart. For the big festivals you need a box really or very good corporate. Waste of time being in with the masses.

I went last year on the Tues/Wed. Never again in the current format. Took an hour and half to get out the car park on the Wednesday.

I live relatively local but never been tempted to go during the festival. But I've been to Royal Ascot, Goodwood and l'Arc plenty of times.

Yeah I live 1/2 mile from the Knavesmire but you have the option of going inside the course for much less money it’s very good value compared to the festival.

This year was amazing , I go every year but this I think was the Hest festival I many years.

Crowds were down it didn't feel overly rammed to me, better abd more facilities for getting a drink, loo etc, and great raving , turned a profit all days bar thursdays and saw some current abd future legends which us what a festival is really about.
Like I was chuffed Hobeysuckle won even tho I backed Marie's Rock
