Idiotic recent purchase - I'm quite a believer in a red stripe for helping find a ball in the leaves, the human eye being most sensitive to red.
Unfortunately turns out that these are more "leaf orange" than red so I now have four boxes or fairly useless winter balls.

I may have oversimplified in the spirit of a golf thread. Yes we are most sensitive to green but that is not relevant to finding a green ball on green grass. We are able to distinguish reds in the environment better because we are "trichomats" and evolution made it useful for us to find berries. Real science here:

"humans are trichromats, our extra class of photoreceptor enabling us to discriminate between reds and greens"
Interesting. Funnily enough, the ball I play in the winter is bright green, and everyone I play with comments on how visible they are.https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/...

I would never buy any ball with red or orange on it - I'm not colourblind but they are the worst colours to see even in the summer. The trouble is I don't think any of them are bright enough.
I've carried on working on my driver and I am seeing some really good results. I can still hit a massive block right which is very annoying, but generally I'm hitting them much straighter. It's comfortable as well - not the ultra-strong grip that the fitter from the other week had me trying. One thing I've noticed is that commitment helps a lot, and I can almost tell on the downswing when I'm going to be hitting a good one as everything just feels more relaxed and I can just feel that the centre of the club face is going to strike the ball, like everything feels "lined up".
Men's section away day this weekend at Dunston Hall and I had two of the worst rounds I've had in a while. Snap hooks off the tee on the holes when I could hit driver. Poor chipping, particularly on the second day. Bare lies inspiring no confidence with the irons. Putting next to impossible; I think my group holed one putt outside of eight feet in two days!
The conditions on the first day were pretty tough and like I say, the course wasn't in the best nick so I won't beat myself up too much. I did win two nearest-the-pins across the weekend which netted me an umbrella lol
One consolation point I can take is that I must have been hitting it out of the toe to snap hook it, so my work to improve my heel strikes is obviously paying off

Now I know that Jimmy Bullard is "marmite" to people, but I like the guy and think he is a really good ball striker. I usually don't watch one and a quarter hour golf videos all the way through, but I did with this one.

Yeah I watched this the other day. Really, really good watch. Would recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qebrQvYgWfk

That'd make me fume! What standard were they?Had a dreadful game today, walked off after 12 holes, fog never lifted, but I can't blame my horrific, no show of a swing on the fog!
Back to the drawing board, the danger of doing all your swing theory in the living room..
Unrelated to my previous post...
Down to 12.5 after the swindle at the weekend, in which I came second and won a nearest the pin. Which was good, because it meant that the fact I forgot to take cash along wasn't a problem.
Tell you what, you feel like an absolute player saying beforehand, "well, I'll just have to make sure I win something then," and proceeding to go on and do it

Interesting on the lofts mine are 3 degrees weaker looking at those numbers from PW down, which makes you wonder why people ask what club are you taking as often the number isn't the full story, I keep promising myself I will go and get my carry distances.
I have more traditional lofts now and it always makes me laugh when I knock a drive a decent distance past someone, and then on the next par 3, they asked me what I'm hitting and I say 8 iron when they have a wedge in their hand. The looks on their faces is always amusing ukwill said:
81 round Woldingham yesterday off the back plates. Happy with that. Down to 11.9.
Have to say I am thoroughly enjoying the Callaway mini-driver. To the point where I've now removed the G425 driver from the bag. So much more confidence - coming from so many more fairways hit. Anyone having problems with the big stick, I would seriously recommend trying a mini-driver out.
Tea was in the flask for the first time since April - so too the thermals. Quite looking forward to winter golf this year. Need to order some hand warmers!
Those who dabble with sims - the new GSPro update is excellent. The integration with Operation 36 is bloody fantastic (https://operation36.golf/)
