Also done. Still keeping my 10 year old Method tho
More seriously, seems to me these Zero Torque putters are great if you're Straight Back Straight Through on the stroke, sadly I'm not. If you've got a more old fashioned arced stroke like mine I struggle to see past anything heel shafted. Shame to see they're all but extinct on the tour.....

- MeToo, I love feeling the weight of the toe, zero torque wouldn't suit me at all. Luckily I have 3 putters, that should really last me my golfing lifetime.
Had a knock around the Addington today. Every time I play there it feels different with trees going, heather going and coming in different location
Did score a card but came in about 10-12 over, just couldn't get anything working well today at all!!
Was on for an gettable eagle on the 16th and walked off with a par after missing both eagle and par putt lol That summed my round up
Was amazed how well it played after all the recent bad weather

As it's coming towards the end of the year and I suspect I won't get many more rounds in, let alone qualifying ones, I thought it's a pretty safe bet to revisit my original goals for the year...
I played a few rounds with Ashfordian, but not as many as I'd like. With the weather now getting worse, perhaps we'll end up playing a top tracer round again or something. NEXT year we'll do a PH meetup!
Really pleased with what's been my best year of golf so far. Here's hoping that the winter isn't too brutal and I can keep my game in shape...
How does everyone else rate their year in comparison to the last few?

I would absolutely love to get to single figures this year, but sitting at 18.4 currently, that may be unlikely. So instead I'll aim to get below 14. 12 would be lovely. First objective, though, will be to get all my 20 scores in. That will give me a much better idea of where I currently sit. I think I have about 8 in at the mo.
My ball striking is going from strength to strength on the range lately, and I'm getting more consistent with driver. Got Dan Grieve's book for my birthday at the end of November, so I want to start working on that proper.
Also, I'd love to play more rounds with you guys! 2024 should be the year of the first PH meetup.
My current index is 12.4, so I've managed to cut 6 shots which I'm absolutely delighted with! I still have one round before my qualifying rounds start dropping off, so I'm pretty confident that's where I'll end the year. I've worked reasonably hard so it's nice to see the rewards. My short game is definitely better in terms of technique, but I now need to focus on just making better club selections around the green. I often still end up 15, 20 feet short on greenside chips which means still 2 putting rather than getting up and down. To add to my goals, I really want to play some more new courses this year. I haven't played many in the local area, and I've also really enjoyed my trips away. If that includes playing abroad, even better
I also did my first trip abroad, to Cyprus, and also played at the Belfry this year. Courses in Surrey, Norfolk and Suffolk round off a pretty decent year in terms of playing away courses. Really pleased with what's been my best year of golf so far. Here's hoping that the winter isn't too brutal and I can keep my game in shape...

Happy New Year folks! Didn't realise I'd posted quite so often in last year's thread - between the amount I played the game and how often I clearly talk about it, I see why Mrs Bodhi calls me obsessed
Anyway main goal for 2024 is to get my current 8.8 handicap down, preferably to something starting with a 5. I didn't come down as far as I was hoping last year, but to maintain an 8 handicap whilst having lessons isn't to be sniffed at I guess.
However I'm not going to get too focused on a number - just carry on with the lessons, keep practising and enjoy myself, then see where I end up.
Other than that, play as many courses as possible and a few more Open competitions, and of course try to get a game with the kind people from this very thread
Looking at that I can say I achieved my main goal - got down from 8.8 to....8.5. Not quite the 5. I was hoping for but there is a 5 in there Had a really enjoyable season though, played some cracking and very consistent golf. Usually I'll have the odd round in the 90s where it went really badly, but highest this season was 85, so not bad at all. Best month was September when I seemed to hit a real purple patch, breaking 80 3 games running (including twice on holiday in Cyprus), won a medal, had out 9 time Club Champion on the ropes for most of our scratch match and came 3rd in medal winners comp. Hit some glorious shots and thoroughly enjoyed that month of golf.
Finishing out team matches unbeaten and being asked to be Vice Captain of Stone next year were other highlights.
The VC thing has all been confirmed now, so no going back....
Only ambition for this season which remains unfulfilled was getting a game with you folks, which we'll have to work harder on next season. If anyone wants a game around Staffordshire let me know, I know somewhere I can probably get us on

My year has been pretty good. Really happy with the way I’ve played for most of it. I think I said before that I narrowly missed out on my goal of shooting level par by three putting the last from 20 ft.
I wanted to get an index that started with 5. My low was 4.1, which should have been 3.8 if not for a school boy error.
My ceiling seems to have come down. Bad rounds are now high 70s rather than low 80s. With the odd shocker like we all have.
I’m most proud of the boy. He finished the year at 16.5 from an index in the 50s. He’s lost a bit of form as the weather has turned and is isn’t playing as much. But he’s a full golf nut.
Not the bunker work is done at my place. I will be happy to host some of you next year.
It does look like many of us have had a good year. I genuinely think this is a great online golf community. Keep up the positivity chaps.

Scores haven't happened for me, low 80s but never put it all together for a sub 80. Chipping and Putting remained good all year, lost my swing completely a few times, disappointing. Still love golf though, and I am able to play full 18s walking again, after years of not being able to do that.

Agree, brilliant thread this. Well played to you and your lad, must be a real joy watching him improve so much I think I said before that I narrowly missed out on my goal of shooting level par by three putting the last from 20 ft.

Year was ok, handicap didn't really move (5-6 index) but seemed to play ok when it mattered - 4th or so in the all-comp order of merit, shame it was a lot placing points/30-36 scores) vs anything more meaningful.
One more knock with friends in the UK before I'm off - nothing counting but have rounds at; St Francis Links, Fancourt Links, Goose Valley, Pinnacle Point, Pearl Valley and Gary Player in the weeks after Xmas, roll on some sun!

Best year for me with my index - Although it wasnt an aim I broke in to the 2s at 2.9 - Its bloody hard work now lol
I did however have a goal this year which was to shoot par or better and I did it twice in the end, once in October and then in last month, both 1 under rounds. The one last month I was much less nervous and more confident
So a bumper year!! looking forward to 25 for some more good and bad golf

Nice one Andy, 2.9 is ridiculously good really, your bad golf would be a nice day out for most of us I did however have a goal this year which was to shoot par or better and I did it twice in the end, once in October and then in last month, both 1 under rounds. Thanks Duncan! I am very proud of of low I have managed to get my HCap in the last few years - I do wonder how good I could have been if I started playing properly when I was younger over just the last 7 years DuncanM said:

I remember my grandad taking me to play when I was 7 or 8 and being bored so never went again.
2.9 is very very good. There’s no room for error when that low. One bad hole and your playing catch up.

Cheers. Yes, it’s been great watching his improvement. But more so his determination to get his game back when it fell apart during the summer. On the hosting front. Now the bunker work is done I’ll be happy to host next year.
I took the boy for a drive fitting as he wanted a new one for Christmas. He wasn’t too happy that his current G10 was longer than anything the fitter gave him.
So with some time left I had the fitter try and improve on my TSi3. With no warmup this was my strike pattern.
Was a touch smug
The fitting wasn’t great using crap range balls. And there wasn’t much choice of shafts. The GT2 was a few yards longer but not £500s worth of yards. The 430 and Qi10 weren’t that great in the setup I was given.

Yes I can see why you're smug with that Good consistent hitting that is. On the hosting front. Now the bunker work is done I’ll be happy to host next year.

On the GT, I tried a GT4 after a lesson a couple of months back - disclaimer being it wasn't a fitting and I was only using TrackMan Range, but the numbers I was seeing off the GT4 were pretty much identical to my own TS4, so like you I didn't see the benefit in upgrading.
My coach did lend me it with a proper Ventus Black in it, which felt utterly brilliant both in the GT and my TS, but I'm told that shaft is the same price as a whole Driver so again I'll stick with what I have.....
