Little knock this morning with my business golf group at Pedham place.

Was bloody cold!!!! Course played well but we had some temp greens

Very happy with a 71, 1 under par, 40 points and I still only came 3rd

Was it windy? I’ve never managed to play there without a 30+mph wind!

Second round out in S.A. today - Fancourt (Montague).

The course is in great condition, and very picturesque - shame about the push shot I've seemed to develop! Finished with a +13 85, 31 points which is ok but not ideal, will take it on a new course every time though

Oh jeeze yeah nevermind I always forget that Stableford takes handicap into account!

Playing off 3 is great golf.

Play in a field of high handicappers often enough and you soon realise you have zero chance in a nett comp. There’s always someone who shoots -6 or better nett.

Single figures is golf’s no man’s land. Not good enough to win anything off scratch. Even less chance nett.

It’s why clubs have divisions, but some clubs don’t have enough players for divisions to be possible.

Recommend the Phil Mickelson/Wesley Bryan match on YouTube... assuming it's filmed with no mulligans the standard is absolutely bonkers good.

Difficult to appreciate the long game on TV, but the wedge control of both is fantastic, as was the LAB powered putting.

It was a great watch wasn't it! Really enjoyed it and nice to see Phil and Wesley bickering like I do with my pals on the course

Really highlights the huge gulf between 'scratch' and Tour Pro.

Bit surprised at Mickelson doing his videos at that particular course, I assume he's a member everywhere he wants in Phonenix, but that front 9 absolutely surrounded by houses looks pretty ugly.

Phil does like hobnobbing with CEOs so maybe that's where his richest friends hang out, dunno. Give me a Sunningdale or Woburn any day of the week.

Oh its huge, I would say a scratch to tour pro difference is at least as large as a strach to 25 handicap

Stunning! Hope you’re enjoying! It’s bloody miserable in the UK at the moment! There’s a new simulator golf place nearish to me that opened recently, might have to book an hour to get my fix. Don’t fancy hitting balls in a cold & windy range!

There was an SVP at the company I work for who was based in Arizona who met Phil a couple of times briefly by virtue of having lessons from Phil's coach.

I ended up playing against the SVP in our works Ryder Cup match and he was a properly decent golfer, played off 6 and also a really nice guy.

I got to the 1st tee to find out my playing partner was stuck in Australia after a storm had caved his roof in, so I took on the guy off 6 and another off 13 on my own. Very proud to say that I took them to the 16th and beat the SVP on gross by 1.

Had a few beers with him afterwards and he had a few tales of pro golfers to tell as there are a lot based in Arizona. Can't repeat any of them here as they were "looks behind the scenes", but sounds like Mr Casey is an interesting character smile

It's going great thanks - looking on the ring camera makes me glad we're away!

Currently at Pinnacle Point, had a round booked but had to cancel it at my wife's behest, couldn't play 2 days a row and leave her to manage the toddler alone apparently! Haha

It does look stunning though with some striking elevation changes!

Ah right. Think he made Euro number 1 once? Fantastic striker but seemed to be injured (turf toe I remember) when he could have had a run at a major or two.

He was a great ball striker, shaky putter but was blighted by injuries and by all accounts, an attitude problem. He fell out in a big way with the European Tour, meaning he missed a few Ryder Cups he should have featured in.

Great talent, sadly a tale of what might have been.
