Most decent pros can retro fit your irons I.e., check and change loft & lie.

Duncan, I play Apex CBs so not the hardest to use, I tested the MBs and honestly, hardly any difference until I got to 6iron & lower, so I took the extra help across the bag! A thin / bad shot still stings!
Ahh they're stunning irons, I have my first two Callaway irons on their way for Xmas smile

Aye I had that done with my VR Pros not long after they arrived from Golfbidder - turned out they were half an inch longer and standard loft and lie, which is exactly what I need.

You could say for £210 for a set of irons that came from The Oven (they're Satin with no serial numbers) I pretty much dropped on.

They look great! Please don’t post in here saying how lovely they are to hit once they’re in the bag biggrin. Mrs KL won’t be too impressed if I go and buy anymore golf clubs…i may have ordered a new putter recently too 🤣. I had a titleist U510 at one point that I loved, when it didn’t go left!

Bodhi, a set of VR Pros are going up in the office wall eventually, just need to find a clean enough set. Beautiful irons. Good on you for gaming them! I know not to ever play you for money! wink

Thanks very much for the link - my initial impression is that I very much like the way Liam teaches. I think I will try to get up to see him in the spring (I note that he's not currently taking new clients on Skillest so he much be pretty popular!)

Have watched a number of his videos now and am embracing the towel drill, and the subtle variations he uses for different clients. I could see simply from videoing a couple of attempts that it was doing good things for my shaft plane in the downswing, and the weight transfer feel is hugely noticeable - although right now I'm having a timing issue with pushing back up again. Still, initial thoughts are this could be a good thing, so thanks again!
Another recommendation for Liam from me. I've had about 6 lessons with him this year, and it's certainly transformed how I swing a golf club. This is me:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSDaKr3AuoV/?utm_so...

Obviously there's still plenty to work on, but the handicap came down by 8 strokes this year. I haven't played since September and the swing has improved a lot in the last 3 months so I would like to think I can get it down a lot further in the next year.

The downside to his rise in popularity is that his diary is always almost completely full!

I would recommend signing up to TGN if you haven't already, the app has a structured progression of drills. I think it's £16 a month, so what, a couple of buckets of range balls?

You also get early access to Liam's in person lesson diary when he opens a block, I think that the latest block he opened went fully before even going public so if really want an in person lesson that's probably your best shot.

What you do get with the subscription is access to other coaches that Liam's trained on the Coachnow app, where you can upload videos and they'll give you an analysis for £35 I think it is.

Also if you follow him on Instagram liamrobinsongolfcoaching he occasionally posts up when he's had cancellations, so that might be another way to get access to him!

Nice stuff Joe, definitely an improvement, so much more fluid in the after swing.

Thanks Duncan! I honestly put that down to starting to actually move my weight and body in the swing rather than just trying to turn my hips back and forwards.

So much more freedom in the swing, and I feel like I do so much less work trying to get myself into 'positions'.

Thanks for the info Joe, I will investigate - it's clear he's done some great work with you, you must be chuffed - lovely looking swing.

116 is seriously good, mad that there are shafts that still feel too much for you! New one sounds good, getting the shaft/s is so important, can make or break a club.

Correctly formatted link to Liam Robinson getting his clubs sorted.
The driver fitting for Liam is now up on the same channel.

I must say I've learnt a lot from the technical side of things from watching a few of the videos from this channel. I love the tests they do that are relevant to the real world, eg strike location and grip size comparisons

I just watched it. Super interesting and insightful. Fascinating how swing weight can have such an impact. Also interesting to see a player of his speed using 10.5 degrees of loft….

I think it's more about what loft you deliver rather than the number on the club or your swing speed, Rahm play a 10.5 adjusted to just over 11 degrees as an example, the great thing about that channel is he myth busts all the you swing X speed so should have X shaft/loft etc..

He does some good vids, couple of Rachel Drummond getting fit for irons and driver, well worth a watch.

Ha! Ross is my local fitter and I've been to see him before, really really nice guy.

Definitely leans into the idea that what a player 'should' have is mostly rubbish, and a lot of other stuff goes into a good fitting.

I'd happily go and see him again once I'm a little more consistent and can get more out of it.

If you are caught on a golf course during a storm and are afraid of lightning, hold up a 1-iron. Not even God can hit a 1-iron.

He's ace, hope his channel grows.

How's your golf going Alex? Would still be up for a game sometime, although probably next year now smile

He’s definitely refreshing with his approach. Have watched some of his other fitting videos.

On a separate note, I’m in need of new spiked shoes. What’s the general consensus now for comfort & style? I had some FJ Hyperflex that always left my feet feeling fatigued, in a way that every spikeless shoe I’ve ever worn, hasn’t…

I've heard Arnold Palmer and Sandy Lyle were pretty good with them wink

That one was actually in my bag on and off for 12 years or so, and if you could hit a long iron it wasn't that difficult off a tee - different story off the deck however. You'd also be amazed at how many golfers, mid teen handicaps and below who tried that 1 iron for a laugh and ended up striping it down the middle hehe

I've moved to a 3 hybrid now of a similar loft which is obviosuly far easier to use - doesn't compare to the feel of nutting a 1 iron tho.....
