decent hill session this morning for me. i'm off work today but have to work tomorrow so can't do the group session.

2.2 miles warm up then 1.5 miles at sub 6min/mile as a "get you into it" and after a few mins off i did 6 hill reps (the hill is 0.34 miles long and pretty steep...working hard (feels harder than 4:30-5min/mile on flat) was only 7-7:15/mile to give you an idea. basically hard up, steady down 6 times.

once that was done i did 0.5 miles jog to loosen off and then 4x30secs efforts at circa 4:30-4:45/mile with 30secs rest between each....then a warm down.....total just over 9 miles so pleased with that considering it was on my own.

easy 3-4 miles tonight too. this week set to be just under 60 miles now i think which will be my biggest week ever.

Tell me about it. 1.5 miles at sum 6min/mile.

I can't run for 1.5 feet at that pace.

i'm one of the slower guys in my group (i'm quicker than 2 people in a group of around 18 or so). my 5k pace was something like 5:27/mile at 16:58.

Ewen used to be a LOT faster than me. I might be doing the Great South (under another name) and would like to think I should go sub 60mins.

I'm on day 245 in a row now. Not missed a day since mid Feb. Still improving but a little tired. I lost 25lbs but have levelled off now, can have a few beers & not put any weight on!

i really wouldn't want to run every day. i need at least 1 day off a week, especially if doing high quality training (speed stuff)...knocks it out of me and after 7-8 sessions through 6 days, it's amazing how fresh you can feel after a day off. go on, treat yourself hehe

Perhaps Christmas Day, but I've got this far I may as well try to complete the year!

oh - and fair play for losing the weight!

after looking at the training schedule as set by my coach.....it asks for a medium effort 60mins run on Xmas day biggrin

i've been running Xmas morning the last few years and it's fantastic.

19:49 at this mornings parkrun. A pb by 8 seconds on a very muddy course so happy with that. A former workmate who usually runs around 17 mins was taking it easy & paced me. It made a big difference when I started slowing down towards the end.

Rather than my long run I did Parkrun this morning. It was packed and it had obviously pissed down last night as the grass was sodden.

My first time and I wasn't sure where to put myself so I stayed near the back, spent the first mile dodging the slower people which mean't going on to the grass, was like a XC race to start.

Anyway, time was 27:40. Bit disappointed, was aiming for a 27 dead but it was still a PB by 1:22. Had a real pain in my stomach by the end, not a stitch but it hurt and held me back a bit.

The worse part of all was that I used the pace setter program on Garmin Forerunner. At the end it tells you that you missed your goal and plays a kind of Wack-wack-oops melody just to rub it in.

I did a local 5 mile fell race today, came 20th out of about 90 odd. Dead on 8 min/mile pace, not bad to say there was over 1100ft of elevation and quite boggy ground.

my legs are tired.

15.2 hilly miles (>300m elevation gain) at 6:40/mile. me and 3 others got dropped by the main group and there was no way i was going to push hard to keep up. went through 10 miles in 66 and half marathon in 1:26. considering the hills and the fact i was already tired from a pretty tough week i was reasonably pleased. didn't take on any fluids or gels/energy etc either and wasn't exactly pushing to kill myself.

edit - just over 58 miles this week. think that's my biggest week.

Well done guys. Managed to walk downstairs this morning! Burst some stitches on Wednesday, so it's been slow going, but hope to walk up and down the road this afternoon. Running in the XC on 4th Nov looks optimistic tbh! Wish I could get out for a run this afternoon, it's a perfect day for it.

First Gwent League of the year, and it was ok with a 67th (nearly an equals my best gwent position). For a change I actually managed to get my pacing right, easy at the start and then working through. I wasn't quite fit enough to continually make progress through the field but it made a change passing and racing people rather than disappearing backwards through the field after going off far too fast.

Did the final long run before the Tatton Half in two weeks. Did 12 miles, pretty slow though (10 min/mile on average) due to random unexpected stops along the way.

This is the first time I've done all the long runs in the plan so I'm ready to beat by PB of 1:46.
