Max Holloway v Brian Ortega
Great fight, and heart.

Considering it was mainly stood up fighting, many boxing matches could learn a lesson about going toe to toe.

Probably not how you should fight but made great viewing.

I was surprised, given how good Ortega is at JJ, that he stood and traded with Holloway. Too macho for his own good?

Tried a few takedowns, couldn't get it. Max has springs for legs, was never going to happen.

From what I remember Ortega doesn't have a good take down rate. once hes on the floor with someone its game over usually but getting them there isn't his strong suit.

Great fighting though, the Manuwa Santos fight was great

A pretty good main card - is Joanna still the best in her mind? 3 losses on the bounce, normally fighters get shown the door then....

Marketability keeps her on the cards (?), is there anywhere else she can go? Or does her division have enough fighters in?

I saw Sage Northcutt got cut the other day for fighting in a different promotion, wasnt he meant to be the next big superstar?

I don't think three losses on the bounce is bad considering she is fighting high level (top 3?) opponents.

Interesting she's gone up a weight class now.

Really enjoyed the UFC and Cagewarriors at the weekend. Manuwa vs Santos was great fun, Gunni's elbow to RNC finish of Oliviera was horrific and the main event was an absolute war, Max's footwork and range management is just perfect, never lets anybody get close enough to him to get a takedown, fair play to Ortega though, showed some serious grit and no shortage of skill either

Jack Shore's performance to win the BW title on cagewarriors was a masterful show of MMA, his transitions between the disciplines/techniques is just seamless

Sage was all about money - he was fighting for far more than his peers were, and expected more this time. (Or at least, that is the rumour).

Mike Bisping is on the Latest Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

I am only about 30 minutes in but has been quite enjoyable so far.

Horrible mismatch for her from a weight point of view.

Great card, best for a while though.

Apparently Eleven Sports have been unable to come to an agreement with Sky/BT to show UFC through their platforms. This was one of the conditions of their deal for UK rights, so hopefully if they bale then Sky or BT will pick up the rights.

Filed under "you couldn't make this up"...
