Has Nunes fought Namajunes? Are you confusing Nunes and Andrade?

Cyborg rematch would be worth a go.

So, just how long is acceptable before we can discuss it openly in your opinion?

The other side of the argument, of course, is stay out of the thread until you've watched it.
It's normally until the next day or so - surely using the spoiler tag isn't too hard?

Staying away is one thing, but in the past we have been talking about other promotions, not just ufc.

This thread is over 10 years old (I think), be a shame to let it go down the drain....

Back to the real thing. Jones nearly lost because of his ego, Nunes is the best, that KO was a thing of violent beauty and BT are arses. I think that covers it...

Fair enough. I'll bear that in mind in future. thumbup

Just watched the Ariel -Askren interview. Fair play to him for fronting up so early and answering questions. Thought he came across as articulate and showed a lot of class and humility.

Another scary weight cut and another poor performance - time for the UFC et al to get to grips with the weight issue?

Agree on the weight cut issue, I heard Joe Rogan going on about the One FC system (hydration checks) which sounds good.

The latest one is in the books and.... Meh. The Pantoja fight was good, there was one finish and everything else was boring. I love a technical fight but this was so bland...

Open thought. Jon Jones seems to be the weathercock for the UFC. He started the oblique kick, instead of a tepe, now everyone does it. He deliberately fought Santos at Santos's game, to prove a point. It seemed a number of other athletes tried to do the same at the weekend.... Thoughts?

I thought Santos game was throw huge punches until the opponent was KO? biggrin

Rather thought Santos found an answer to Jones' style by attacking his legs.

Yup, not the best card of bouts.

I was surprised how easily Max dealt with Edgar. Fantastic takedown defence.

Another one in the books.

Is it me, or is father time starting to look unfavourably on certain fighters, who should be saved from themselves....? I mean BJ Penn has ANOTHER fight, he hasn't won for something like a decade? (He last won in Nov 2010, I was taking the michael, but looked it up).

Anyway, reast of the fights. Some good, some boring, there were a few late stopages and I'm really looking forward to the next one....

Agreed, the BJ Penn situation is ridiculous.

It wasn't Herb Dean's best evening either particularly the Trevin Giles choke where he missed him tapping twice before stopping it

Yeah, Herb didn't have a good night.

The less said about the MAGA arsewipe, the better as well...

Any thoughts on DC vs Stipe ? was it all part of the plan ? Or was it reacting and adapting to the way the fight was playing out?

All happy with Yoel vs Costa?

DC was easily winning that match until Stipe hit him with a few body shots and that changed it. Neither fighter was really listening to the advice their corner was giving them.

Costa won that pretty decisively in my opinion. Not sure what was up with Yoel, he looked like he had brain damage or something as he was moving very strangely and not even moving at times. He'd have been better off swinging a bit more instead of sticking out his tongue all the time.

Diaz vs Masvidal will be a funny one if it actually happens.

Overall good card.

DC vs Stipe - Slightly surprising from DC, would have thought that his fight IQ would have seen that once the first 2 landed. Either way, good adaptation from Stipe. He can take a punch.

Romero vs Costa - agreed, Romero looked even wierder than normal, I think maybe he's just taken one too many knocks. There's no doubting his (juiced?) athletic ability. Will be interesting to see Costa fight the Australian.

Diaz looked good but I thought Pettis was unlucky, he was doing quite well. The well known cardio of Diaz seemed to edge it.

Pettis broke his foot in the first round. I don't know if the result would have been different though if he hadn't.

I know some of the guys do drastic weight cuts, but the California State Athletic Commission have revealed weights at weigh-in and fight night. Paolo Costa put on 27.8lbs!! and Manny Bermudez incresed his weight by 17.7%!!

Surely it's time for a fight night weigh-in with only a small % increase allowed?
