He had an extraordinary spatial awareness and was an elite striker at MMA level, but in my opinion cannot be classed a great because of the great big hole in his game. Ground game was average.

Him being in the US will help keep the girls in Dublin safe for a while anyhow.

Aldo - come on....that was pretty fortunate to get a KO on the first punch.
That punch was set up in the weeks leading up to the fight. There was nothing fortunate about it all.

I guessed a while back that he might be the fella that has had a recent million dollar offer turned down - would I be on the right lines?

Seems so, and seems to be a different story coming out every week, none really good.

Disgusted for Diaz, I read his statement this morning and it reads very well (as in it says the right things). I wonder is it all to get the retaliation in first though ?

Apparently for trace amounts of SARMS?

Allegedly they say he can fight but he said he's out unless they clear his name as he doesn't want to fight with the allegation against him.

Maia vs Askren is worth a watch.

Damian Maia has a squeeze like a furkin Boa Constrictor, the body triangle alone looked like it would have submitted most people, I can't see Askren getting another title shot, he's just not a good enough all round MMA fighter.

Totally agree

Did you see how blanched Askren's neck was? And his back where the body triangle had been!

That was a really enjoyable card. Some really high level striking in the earlier bouts and even I could appreciate the main event.

Can't help but feel bad for Askren, he had every reason to think he was going to do as well as he said he was going to do in the UFC, then he had a real baptism of fire with Lawler, got out of it but you could see in the post fight interviews he wanted none of that again.

Outside of the UFC he gets destroyed 12-0 in wrestling in a match against the latest and greatest of wrestlers, showing while he may have been good at one time, he isn't even relevant in the wrestling world nowadays either!

Then he gets destroyed in utterly humiliating fashion after Masvidal called out how predictable he was.

...back to the drawing board, pick a guy at the end of his career who should be a safe win for a top tier fighter, gets choked out and now finds himself as something of a mid rank fighter at best having entered the division as someone who came to easily destroy everyone.

He looked utterly dejected in the post fight interviews. frown poor git.

I have little sympathy for him as he talks so much st.

He got past Lawler by the skin of his teeth (an early stoppage arguably). Might have been better if had lost; de-rail the hype train straight away.

That Kevin Lee KO was pretty devastating.

How the f**k did one judge score the Till bout 30-27 to Gastelum?! Were they watching a different fight to award every round to Gastelum? Then another judge scores it totally opposite. I don't think Till did anything special but he was better.

I think Diaz got a bit lucky and avoided an extra 2 rounds of damage. That cut reminded me a bit of Tyson Fury and quite surprised the doctor stopped it but didn't really see anything Diaz was going to do differently to win

You never know with Diaz, I suspect he was on a hiding to nothing but four and five tend to be when he can put his cardio into use and power down the home straight. What a chin kids got, some recuperative powers!!
