This IS a discussion forum isn't it? He is one of the greatest MMA practitioners of all time, if not the greatest. No arguments. That has been stated more than once, should we only mention that once also? I find the UFC attitude to cheats, not just Jones, others too, very strange. In a sport where an unfair advantage could lead to serious long term damage or even death I find their attitude to drug cheats incredible, yet they banned Diaz for marijuanna use? I guess this is less of a criticism of Jones than it is about the franchise. Boxing is as bad. My frailties are my own business but I work every day to control them and not let them control me. People have given me chances before, and I am all for giving others the same chances. Jones however has taken those chances several times now and thrown them back in others faces. He is clearly a troubled young man, perhaps my use of the word reprehensible was out of order. He needs help, ongoing help, not a multi million dollar industry validating his choices because he is their cash cow.
I'm allowed to say that on this discussion forum? Sure others may disagree and I'm cool with that, indeed a welcome discussing alternate opinions, and might learn from them myself. Perhaps Jones has changed from the kind of person who drives under the influence and flees the scene of an accident He caused leaving a distraught pregnant woman as the victim? I hope he has, he has so much to offer the sport and potentially other young people who look up to him. Here's hoping he's turned that corner. As a martial artist I can appreciate his skills, particularly his grappling. His meteoric rose reminds me of when Tyson burst onto the scene, another troubled young man who was allowed to male dreadful decisions without fear of consequences. I hope his life doesn't follow the same pattern and wish him every success in finding the peace he must surely need.
Anything is possible - Mike Tyson is a good example of turning his one's around. I'm allowed to say that on this discussion forum? I think BT took the piss by trying to charge £19.99 for tonight. We've had so many big title fights which we don't have to pay extra for. Now that we have someone fighting under the flag we get charged extra?
For once the UFC actually gave us a decent card and didn't stack it with English fighters.
Sadly I forgot this was on as it wasn't in the TV guide. I caught the co-main and main event.
Co-main event was a cracker. Two guys throwing every shot with power and not taking it easy.
Main event: I honestly felt some of the score cards were a tad generous. Leon looked really gassed and was barely throwing much volume towards the end.

Leon didn't look that gassed to me. For sure, they had both slowed down in the last round, Usman more than Leon.
I thought the result was a fair one, the only generous score Leon got was the 9-9 he got from one judge for the 3rd round, the other two got it spot on with 10-8 for Usman
Imho, Leon definitely won the 1st, 2nd and 5th, Usman won the 3rd. In the 4th, Usman only got one successful takedown and Leon landed more strikes and every leg kick he threw. No way Usman won that fight, being overly generous, he squeaked a draw.
Gaethje vs Fiziev was a banger.
Women's mma is still a soozefest unfortunately

I just signed up to Fight Pass for a year because of a cheap offer, it's been a while since I watched. Any events/matches from the last couple of years that were particularly good?
I'm just going through all the old ones at the moment.

I was surprised Usman didn't come with more armoury. He seemed very nervous of a big kick and just was not coming forward enough for me.
It's true what Khabib said about not being the same after a big KO
I think it definitely makes a fighter think twice when they believe themselves to be the superior striker only to be knocked cold. It's certainly something we've seen before in MMAIt's true what Khabib said about not being the same after a big KO
Many still calling Leon's striking average.
It's crisp. He has no wind up on his kicks, so all night Usman couldn't see them coming. He timed them to perfection - every time Usman's weight shifted to the front leg he kicked it. So he was reading Usman's rhythm perfectly. Punches are sharp, accurate and well timed. Lots of great lateral movemement, and did a phenomenal job of not allowing Usman to grip.
Leon's game plan was so far ahead of Usman's and he let his emotion at the door - he was like a cold killer getting on with this job like a roboton. I'm not actually sure what Usman's game plan was...he certainly didn't have a Plan B which was complacent. You could say his team did a bad job with lack of game plan strategy and tactics.
Has one fight last year totally changed how Usman will be remembered? MMA is brutal.

I'm sure Dana was a bit disappointed that the Rosas Jr. hype train has come to a halt for now. He didn't seem to have much of a plan other than grappling which Rodriguez managed to deal with to an extent.
The Masvidal hype train has also finished. He had no business getting a fight with Gilbert Burns and it was a foregone conclusion.
Pereira was winning that fight. He was hacking away at the legs and didn't look especially uncomfortable. It was only when he sniffed a kill that he started swinging and dropped his hands. If Pereira was a bit more disciplined then it may not have ended in the same way.
I thought Adesanya was a bit tasteless considering Pereira went down like that and was completely still. For a moment I had concern Pereira may be leaving the octagon on a stretcher. I wonder if there will be a rematch. I'm not convinced Adesanya really improved that much, I think it was more a case that Pereira underestimated the power and started letting his hands go much earlier in the fight than last time.
Maybe it's time to get Chimaev in for a title fight. Although I wasn't convinced when he met Burns. But his wrestling and strength should be too much for Israel.

Enjoyed seeing Kev Holland come back from breaking his hand against Wonderboy. I know some people think he doesn't take fights seriously but personally I like his sense of humour and personality. He has some great cars too. Shame Masvidal retired, as I'd have liked to see him up against Holland.

You could say the same for the first fight in favour of Adesanya, he was comfortably winning and got caught. Same story for their kickboxing fights. Pereira was winning that fight. If Pereira was a bit more disciplined then it may not have ended in the same way.

And Pereira celebrated the same way when he knocked Adesanya out in kickboxing. They both made peace after the fight, what's said and done before, during and immediately after fight is mostly forgotten.
Chimaev doesn't deserve a title shot, he's had a couple middleweight fights against a C tier fighters in the UFC, his biggest wins being a disputable win at WW over Burns and a short notice win over Holland after missing weight by 8lb. He's not even ranked at MW
you reward that with a title shot? Anyway, looks like he's lined up for Belal Muhammed or Paulo Costa next
