nah.. if he's lucky he might get some crumbs off Anderson's plate. I reckon Jimmy is going to go through us like a dose of salts if the humidity and cloud cover stay around. Unless of course he's totally shagged from spending too much time in an airconditioned pavillion?

Well I think the groundsman at the WACA is going to be asked to produce a bowler friendly pitch....try and even things up. There is no point in them producing a flat track that will take spin on days four and five...their seamers have shown they are only competitive when there is something in the pitch for them and they don't have a spinner to exploit the spin late in the match. They produce a batsman's track and the bowlers perform as they did chances are England will have retained The Ashes with two tests to play. As an example Siddle in the last two innings has bowled 54-7-211-0.

A bowler friendly pitch at the WACA?

That'll be the day.

Don't let up now lads, nice win to tuck away, especially as its a massive confidence denting margin of victory, but I don't think the Aussies are finished yet, Punter will play a big one, Hussey looks in great nick. But the pie throwers they have for bowlers need a refresh.

The Aussies on here and elsewhere, bigged up this bowling group, they knew it was poor, we knew it and now the proof is in every newspaper in the land, six wickets for over a thousand runs.....at home.

My money's still on 2-1. The Aussies will get one; whether we've picked up our second first or not we'll see.

This on from Geoff Boycott

Andy Flower receives a text from Cricket Australia. It reads: "If you're not using Broad, can we have him?" Flower replies that Broad is injured and his body will not stand up to the rigours of Test match fast bowling. "Who mentioned fast bowling?" comes the reply. "We were going to use him as a batsman."

Fantastic result fully deserved the aussies were completely outplayed in this one. Take the plaudits this was a truly 'complete' cricket performance from our boys, battig/bowling/fielding. Right, now we have had our deserved congrats, the one sure thing that will happen is that the aussies will try and come back at us. We must NOT have any complacency until we have won the last test and come out 4-0 winners. And you know what, I don't think we will I actually believe this is a professional set up and we will come out all guns blazing in the next one, because if we don't and we give them a sniff they will get at us.
I reckon we have options for a Broad replacement(really tough for him) depending on the track. Probably be Bresnan bowl plenty of overs/steady Eddie and he can bat a bit. He is the safe bet. What about the aussies though. How much will they change? Katich - yes. Bowlers? They were all pretty poor so who cares. Bring on no 3. Loving this so much.We need to win again and again. Keep playing hard quality cricket and I reckon we will, my 2-1 could be wrong.bounce

I'd love to see Tremlett come in for Broad and bowl like Steve Finn and hit the deck hard. He was the best bowler when we beat The Cockney's A team in Hobart the other week. And I'd like to see Bell bat above Collingwood, his figures and form would suggest he should, but that's nitpicking really.

It's hard to see where The Cockneys go from here with their attack. They've run out of options other than Smith or Hauritz for the totally hopeless Doherty. Or will they pick two spinners and drop a batsman? wink Johnson will be back in the team IMO. But who can replace Cat Itch? With a new opener to be bloodied, paired with Watson who must be rather nervous now the rock of Katich isn't opening with him, I personally would fancy bowling first in Perth and knocking a couple over in the first few overs to get them off to another great start!

All in all a great performance from England, glad I didn't have to sit up all night, going to bed at 1am was fine by me smile

Just for the record I'm a 3-1 man, with The Cockney's marked down to win the last consolation test, but hope Cooky's right at 4-0. Indeed I suspect the whole cricketing world would like to see their previously arrogant little noses ground into the filth.

All over.

I predicted Eng/SA to win at Gabba and a draw here.

Looks like the other way around.

Below average bowling and batting. On to Perth for another 5 days of pointless arguing.

Can't wait.
What's all this Eng/SA business? The team is called 'England'

Poor winners, sore losers!

I know! But if you're them, what would you do ?!?!

They are in a total mess....apparently Ponting "has lost all faith" Hauritz which is why he wanted his Tasmanian team mate Doherty.....and Ponting also publicly questioned the decision to drop Johnson. So he's getting his way on some things and not others.....I mean what the hell is going on? Who is picking the side ?!?!

Why are you now suddenly refering to the Aussies as Cockneys? You're in danger of insulting both sides. tongue out

Perhaps Australia should recall their current English player to help them out, Andrew Symonds. wink

Other Australian test match cricketers born overseas.
ENGLAND (10): Charles Bannerman, John Hodges, Tom Kendall, William Midwinter, Percy McDonnell, William Cooper, Henry Musgrove, Hanson Carter, Tony Dell and Andrew Symonds.
SCOTLAND (1): Archie Jackson.
IRELAND (2): Tom Horan, Tom Kelly.
SOUTH AFRICA (1): Kepler Wessels.
NEW ZEALAND (3): Tom Groube, Clarrie Grimmett and Brendon Julian.
INDIA (2): Bransby Cooper and Rex Sellers.

Just ignore John MoFo. He's a twisted and extremely bitter old Aussie who was rejected by his homeland and lives in Blighty where everyone he knows reminds him daily how fkin awful it is to be a convict in civilisation.

Go England. partybiggrin

With Katich out (and me as a Glamorgan fan) looks like there's only one option.

Mark Cosgrove

Flayed English county attacks around the ground last season.

Although Google suggests "Mark Cosgrove weight" & "Mark Cosgrove fat" as you type his name in, I think he'd be an interesting suggestion. Can bowl a bit too.
