With Katich out (and me as a Glamorgan fan) looks like there's only one option.

Mark Cosgrove

Flayed English county attacks around the ground last season.

Although Google suggests "Mark Cosgrove weight" & "Mark Cosgrove fat" as you type his name in, I think he'd be an interesting suggestion. Can bowl a bit too.
I thought the convicts had been bowling a few pies, not eating everyone they could lay their fat, pudgy, thieving fingers on!

I bet someone is thinking of giving him a phone call as well.
It seems popular opinion wants him back!

I for one wouldn't want to see him back.

Interesting interview here with the beaten captain: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/dec/07/ashes-...

We've stood up to England but not been good enough to win. There is no doubt that it's a bad loss for us. Defeat by an innings and 71 runs, having won the toss on a good wicket, says it all.
That sounds to me like the words of a broken man. What's wrong, Ricky?

Also there's a suggestion that Philip Hughes will be coming in for Katich. That'd be interesting...

They might not if they listened to his more pro-England commentary for Sky Sports. wink

Well I think he's well known for his criticism of Ponting too. Something I read the other day described Ponting as a leader but not a Captain which I thought was a neat summary. He's an exceptional batsman, right up there. I don't think he's in the same class as a captain though.

For a good part of Pontings captaincy he had it very easy - how hard can it be to captain a team with Warne, McGrath, Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Gilchrist et al in it?

Very true, but I think most Captains would have the same problem. In addition his own form with the bat has deserted him. That compounds the problem massively..

Don't let up now lads, nice win to tuck away, especially as its a massive confidence denting margin of victory, but I don't think the Aussies are finished yet, Punter will play a big one, Hussey looks in great nick. But the pie throwers they have for bowlers need a refresh.

The Aussies on here and elsewhere, bigged up this bowling group, they knew it was poor, we knew it and now the proof is in every newspaper in the land, six wickets for over a thousand runs.....at home.
3-1 is what i predicted.

Not only that, but it happened on a pitch that could be comfortably described as a yellow road after winning the toss...

Long hop >>>>>>>>wicket.

Laughable.

Looks like this is Eng/SA's week.

Haddin & North have one helluva job now.
Long hop? No it wasn't. He got tucked up by a slightly shorter delivery. Are you sure you used to play this game prfoessionally?
Yes, I see you've been listening to Hussain & co. Very good.

I note they don't show the hundreds of half trackers he pulls for four.

But I'm sure Finn was thinking just like that... 'I'll just nip a half tracker back a little, it will cramp him up and instead of swatting it for four, like usual, he'll knob it up to mid wicket...

"Oy, Straussy, let's not bother with three slips - I'll just bowl one of those unplayable, cutting long hops that always get Hussey out.."

Nothing quite like armchair cricket fans.
Riiiiight. So a long hop is an uncontrolled, slower delivery that het's smashed. Would you care to tell me what was slower, uncontrolled and smashed for 4 about that ball? Are you saying you know more about these things than Holding and Hussein? If so, when did you get your baggy green?

As for Armchair fan... I wish. Instead of trying to run a county club, I often find myself having to pick a bat up too. It'd be far easier to just sit and watch!

You are a grumpy Aussie aren't you!
He's got the mother of fall inferiority complexes...that can be the only explanation for his blinkered outlook on life.

The greatest spin bowler to ever play the game (who apparently is Australian) described that wicket as good bowling. Hussey's played really well but Finn was bowling round the wicket too him and the ball nipped back a bit....it wasn't a long hop, it was slightly short of a length and it cramped him. The ball wasn't short enough or wide enough for that shot on a fifth day wicket...especially when your the best shot your team is the draw.

A lady walked into a Police Station and the desk Sergeant said "Can I help you?"

"Yes" she said, "I'd like to report a case of sexual assault".

"Where did it happen?" the Sergeant asked.

"In the park just down the road" she replied.

"Can you describe what happened?"

"Yes, I was walking along the footpath in the park near the trees when a man jumped out of the bushes and dragged me in there, removed my underwear then he dropped his pants to his knees and had his way with me"

"Could you give me a description of him?"

"Yes, he was wearing white shoes, long white trousers, a white shirt, and he had these two big long pads from his feet up to and over his knees, one on each leg".

"Sounds to me like he was a cricketer, most probably a batsman", said the Sergeant.

"Yes", said the lady, "He was an Aussie Cricketer".

"That's very observant", said the Sergeant, "You worked that out from his accent?"

"No", she replied. "I worked it out because he wasn't in for very long".

Love this! Tremlett, Bresnan and Shahzad all had a bowl in the middle after the game today. This team is so up for it.
