Many of us have followed your progress with great interest and sometimes with some info support so as it seems that your esprit is now complete all but a wiper is there any chance of a few new photos.

Thanks in anticipation.

I'd be amazed if something else dosen't fit, i'm sure Lotus just tugged everything from the Ford and Rover parts bin back then didn't they?

Well after lots of delays, other projects (v6 cosworth sierra track car, suzuki off roader) i finally got to drive her, my first drive in an Esprit, already done 2 tanks of fuel!, a few issues the main being the gearlinkage adjustment which is now sorted with the aid of a spring, a few more trims to refit, the engine bay needs tidying as the engine cover is missing and apparently impossible to find? the speedos not working seems to be the L drive on the back of the box. Biggest suprise- no oil leaks- so far.
Not a restoration ive really enjoyed to be honest, bad choice of car to start with as it was already stripped down and having no experiance of them was a lot of trial and error, nothing seemed to line up properly but was then told they didnt 30 years ago so they wont now!
No idea what ive spent, probally 8k on parts but i always knew it was a labour of love.
So thats 2 cars off my wish list to own, the first being a Rolls Royce silver Spirit which i drove daily for a year.
Next? a Ferrari 355 or 360 but i know they will bite me! maybe a Noble having driven a few. but for the summer will drive the Esprit.

Thanks Crashrepairman. It's been a pleasure reading your progress over the past 3 years. Really enjoyed it. She looks great. If your travels ever take you to New Zealand I'll buy you a beer.

Wow, that is just stunning! What a machine! I have been a long time lurker in the Esprit forum, and often wondered what happened to your project crashrepairman.

Why didn't you enjoy the restoration? Or to put it better maybe, what is it particularly that you enjoy about other restorations?

Still a few jobs to do, speedo stopped working AGAIN!, heater blower not working, carpets to tidy up, engine bay needs tidying, think thats about it.
Im off to Spain in my caravan for the winter in October, going via Black Forest, Switzerland and the Italian Lakes, so will be laying her up in the garage.
Ive just had to replace the alternator (again), fitted trumpets on the carbs distributer overhauled by H&H, it runs superb now, will start to compile a list of new parts fitted soon.
Thanks for all your comments.

Hi, not done much Posting on here for a while!, So a quick update-- gear lever broke last week, fiddly job but £108 later for a new one and its done, looked through my posts, seem to have missed loads of bits ive done, such as steering rack every hose, clutch, alternator, starter- the cost about £5kplus in parts plus paint plus the original purchase. Im now doing a Morris Minor-So much easier!, Might sell the Lotus at the end of July as im off to Spain again for the winter. Still bits to do such as tidy engine bay up. I found engine cover it will need modifying to fit, but shes Motd and useable at the moment and I enjoy a "spirited" ride down the "Crooked Mile" in the evenings and even had a blast up to 100mph.My daughters boyfriend has a clio 172 and I could stay with him all along the country roads. Not bad for an old girl!, so whats it worth? Hope to get back more than parts spend but who knows?
