I went last year dressed as a Luftwaffe officer and will be there on Sunday in the same outfit. It got a fair bit of attention - all positive, even had a nice long chat with a chap from the RAF benevolent fund! Aswell as loads of other people. At one point I was having a close look at an ME109 and turned round to find a row of people with cameras! Also got 'arrested' by the Dads Army officer!
As someone mentioned not all those fighting for Germany were Nazis.

I don't think the ghost of Douglas Bader would be impressed with Nazis tramping around his old aerodrome.

Yesterday I challenged those who were dressed in German military garb to a Fawlty Towers Major "Germans!? I don't much care for Germans!"

I think all you can rightly say to that is, "I say, bang on!"

laugh I did walk past you yesterday and think oh a German Air Force uniform, then I saw the swastika emblems and wondered if you'd got any odd looks/comments during the day.

No negative comments at all but lots of positive ones aswell as scores of people who wanted their photo with me. At least half of the people that congratulated me on my choice of uniform were German actually! at one point a very enthusiastic group of German gentlemen all but dragged me over to the Silver Arrows garage so that some photographers could get a few photos. Might look into modelling actually.....on second thoughts perhaps not!
It goes without saying, if I had caused any great offence I would probably think twice before doing the same next year.

Having put some effort a few years ago into making up a reasonably accurate RAF Sqn Ldr's uniform I know how much effort goes into getting these correct. I know nothing about German uniforms and stuff but to me that looks pretty accurate. Are you one of those re-enactor chaps?
