Unfortunately due to some bad planning, residing in Asia, I had planned a few months back to attend Goodwood Revival on Saturday but have neglected to buy the entry tickets!

Just checked today and for Saturday they are all sold out.

Would anyone here have 2 or more for sale?

This is disastrous as we have bought the flights and all but haven't gotten the key ticket there! Doh!

Any help would be highly appreciate!

Thanks

Saturday has been sold out for quite a while now. Best bet is keep an eye on the Goodwood section here on PH or it's down to ebay, where like the Festival of Speed, tickets do come up for sale.

I wouldn't call it a total disaster, there is so much to see and do outside of the venue, where you don't need a ticket to attend, and last year they had a massive TV screen to watch the racing on, so even if you can't get tickets, it's still worth attending IMO

You will need a Revival general entry ticket in order to access 'over the road', the same as previous years. The difference this year is that tickets are being scanned at the entry points to over the road this year, rather than just the visual check that's been in place in previous years in order to have a more precise figure of numbers in that part of the event at any given time.

Sorry, I don't understand that. AFAIK you have not needed a ticket for "over the road" in previous years, you enter it directly from the car park. My ticket has always been electronically scanned when I enter the Revival after walking through the "over the road" exhibits, no one has ever looked at it before that point.

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Hi Ian.
A visual check of the number of customers over the road has sufficed in previous years. This year we need to be more precise with our numbers by scanning tickets at the entry points to over the road. You've always needed a ticket to go over the road, it's just this year we're needing to count numbers by scanning the tickets in & out.

Ok I understand now, previously it was a visual check on visitor numbers not the tickets.

I still don't get what you mean though by "You've always needed a ticket to go over the road". Do you mean that was a Goodwood expectation, because it certainly wasn't implemented. The fact that this change is being made seems to support that. You don't actually go over the road anyway, you start there.

So tickets will be checked at the access points from the car parks to the fields where "over the road" is located now ?.

As has been said previously tickets were only checked when entering and leaving the circuit itself in previous years and I'm sure a number of people who have been unable to purchase tickets for sold out days like Saturday were planning to spend the day (and their money) on the facilities over the road.

So there goes my plan of Friday and Saturday watching the action and Sunday over the road.

That's exactly the reason why I have commented, so that Tattooboy & anyone else that reads this don't set off on a wasted journey over the weekend. On a similar note, advanced warning that Sunday Revival tickets are very close to selling out (within a week I would suggest) meaning Friday admission will follow shortly after just in case anyone hasn't yet secured their entry tickets.

Can anyone clear my confusion ( an age thing no doubt) but is it that the historic practice of " doing " the over the road area a k a tax exempt car park etc will only be available to those with a ticket to the revival ?.

PHomer, as you obviously work for Goodwood, will the ticket check be done as we drive into the car parks? If that's the case, I think we can expect the queues to get in to lengthen considerably.

The car parks (including the tax exempt car park B) will not be affected by the ticket scanning over the road. The scanning will be taking place past the allocated parking areas.

If this is the case there are going to be hundreds if of people turning up to "over the road" who will not be able to access it, me included.
We have tickets for Sunday and were planning to do over the road on Saturday as too much to do in one day and are staying at the in laws at Bosham.
There could be chaos at the entrance

It might be a good idea if Goodwood advise people of this through social media etc as this is quite a change to previous years and I would imagine many people are planning to do the same with regards "over the road" otherwise I can see quite a few unhappy people.

At least Goodwood can say they informed people in advance as I'm guessing not everyone is on Pistonheads and would of read this thread.

Not a bad idea though because the facilities in "over the road" were becoming swamped. I have no idea how many people were doing "over the road" without a ticket but if, as suggested, it's a few thousand then this will certainly make the food points more accessible and ease congestion in the car parks. I always get a 3 day ticket anyway so the thought of doing it for free had never occurred to me.

I have no idea if it is a genuine problem either. I've heard people talk about the possibility of doing "over the road" without a Revival ticket but I've only ever met one person who admitted to actually doing it.

The requirement for a ticket this year is on the Goodwood website: Home > Flagship Events > Goodwood Revival > Explore Revival > Over the Road (although I suspect only people buying tickets are likely to see it there).

Over the Road

Don't be fooled into thinking all the fun takes place within the Motor Circuit. Cross the bridge taking you - literally - Over the Road and you open the door to a whole world of jollity. Please note that you do need a Revival ticket to visit Over the Road.

Ian, I think PHomer is being deliberately obtuse and nothing has changed from previous years.
