Went last year to the festival of speed and loved it despite the weather. Although as it was a spur of the moment thing we had to travel 50 minutes for our nearest Hotel. We are planning to go down on the Friday evening due to the length of the drive and stay for two nights. Only problem is it seems most venues are already fully booked. Anyone have any recommendations Hotel or Camping that are within 30 minutes of Goodwood that are not fully booked? Will be 2 adults and 2 children.

Have you tried Portsmouth or Fareham. 50min really isn't that bad. But yes most places are booked as soon as the dates are released, not only are there spectators but also the people working all booking hotels so they go quick.

Portsmouth Harbour to Chichester is 30 mins on the train. Gunwharf Quays is next to Portsmouth Harbour station and there's a Holiday Inn Express there as well as stacks of restaurants and things to do of an evening.

Would rather drive to be honest. Plus you have storage for all your grub, wellies etc. We stayed at pompy last time but after a long day all we wanted to do was sleep.

You are unlikely to find anything closer, I live in Portsmouth and the journey is quicker than 50min.

When i meant stayed at pompy. it was classed in the pompy region but closer to Fareham. Looks like I lucked out and found a Premier inn in Portsmouth North Harbour so only 16 miles away. Daylight robbery on price but I guess that is to be expected as nothing related to Goodwood is cheap. Here is to hoping for fine weather!

I've been travelling from Fareham since 1994 it's not a bad drive but yeah 45-50min.

That premier inn is next to Pizza Hut, KFC, McDonald's and a huge Tesco so you can't go wrong. If you want slightly better food pop round the corner (5min drive) to port Solent.

Hotels are all either very expensive or fully booked.

We've ended up in Southampton, so fully expecting a long journey to get to Goodwood with traffic etc.

Aim to arrive by 8am and you won't have an issue. Do remember that if you are going Thursday or Friday that you will have to fight with rush hour traffic.

I stayed at a campsite near Arundel, booked it a couple of weeks before and there was still room on the weekend of the show. Can't remember the name but it was next to the A27 and a Premier Inn. Took 15-20 minutes to get to FOS from there.

We would love to do that. Especially the kids but after the mud fest last year I wouldn't want to risk it.

This was a proper campsite, no mud to be seen! I've found the name of it now, it was Maynards Caravan and Camping Park.

When we went last year I had a hard time booking any hotels or camp sites that were relatively close, mostly down to me and my friend planning it a bit...late. We ended up booking with the Prince of Wales pub in Chicester, which we did quite close to the actual date and paid £60 for the full weekend, as well as that I paid an extra £30 for breakfast for every morning.

It is a small site, but it had atmosphere there as well as the pub being a bonus. Only about 10-15 mins down the road, too smile

Try Worthing, Brighton, Littlehampton, Barnham in the other direction.

The official Goodwood FoS campsite is excellent and worth the money.
Scotts Farm Campsite in East Wittering. They don't take bookings so you just turn up.
