When Saudi Arabia are accusing you of funding Mulim terrorism you must have done something really untoward!

Smiler.

I was thinking about this only yesterday.

Having read many comments on the "How do we sort this out" thread, ME governments, companies & individuals own vast swathes of UK property & company interests.

Heathrow has a 10% stake owned by a Gulf state government interest.

Not that they could use said ownership to necessarily influence things but the term "ban" is bandied about a lot & I don't think under UK law, anything of the sort would be viable.

Saudi is the current bogeyman of the ME states, but I wonder if this misses the bigger picture?

There was also another snippet I heard last week regarding how the UN recently removed SA from the list of regimes & outfits specifically carrying out acts of violence against children throughout the world. It cited "pending investigation" as the reason for the removal.

However it's widely know that SA has bombed hospitals in Yemen.

Attempts to establish a true picture out there must seem like a Dan Brown plot.

The MB bit yes - but Iran? These Qataris are bloody hypocrites if that's the case!

Sibling spats..... whatever the press are reporting is the reason will not be. The Qatariis argue with everybody anyhow, they have border disputes with Saudi, Bahrain & Iran. Of the GCC nations they are the spoilt child, who the other siblings like to give a bloody nose to.

I understand the Qatariis have been caught hacking the Emirati ambassador to Washington's phone. And this may be behind the move.

Think of it if a wife was caught snooping on her husband's phone.

It alsways seems odd that these emirates don't have more problems with Islamic terrorism.

They've got the wrong kind of islamists, the foreigners doing all that fornication and drinking and other lewdness the nutters don't like, they also help the west, some even have foreign forces based there.

Is it to do with who does their banking or something?

Maybe Rob, lets hope its just that. Strange that Qatar's Al Jazeera TV was also blocked in the UAE last week. Somethings obviously going on.

Etihad has just suspended flights to Doha. No doubt Emirates will do so shortly.

Apparently Al Jazeera was "hacked" & published comments from the Qatarii Emir expressing support for Iran & Hezbulla. Bahrain, Saudi & the Emirates didn't believe it had been "hacked" got upset & blocked Al Jazeera.

Russians at it again? Try to divide the allies in the region in order to help their Iranian and Syrian friends.

Well this is odd because my brother who works as a lecturer in Sussex uni , mentioned that SA students and especially the military ones studying had been called back before the end of term, he asked one who said it was unusual but didn't know why.

BBC has reported it's over ISIS support, which is more believable than support for Iran.

Considering SA were implicated at the same time originally - they've got a nerve!

Qatar are also involved with Hamas, & every other mob connected with Iran: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4187727,...
I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner, & also very surprised we are dealing with them at the same times as SA & Israel

I have often wondered this myself and as yet can't really fathom a good reason...
