Anyone know where I can get one from?

Doesn't need to be blizzard / stormproof, just stay on in gusty wind and to keep the bloody neighbourhood cat hairs off the fabric as for some reason my car under the carport has become a 'high throne' for whoever the current alpha Tom happens to be.

Hi,

I am going to recommend a Mazda MX5 ROOF COVER (I know it's swearing), but it does the job!

How well does it fit and how much are they?

The bit about looping it around the door handles and the wiper arms is a deal breaker on that one.

I understand Leven ones are hard to find (do they sell them anymore) but has anyone come across an alternative TVR one?

Hi,

I purchased my used MK3 Mazda MX5 Hood cover off Gumtree, it was about £35.00. The one that I have has a pair of loops (velco ties) that go around the wing mirrors, plus a large Mazda Logo Badge in the center - there are no door handle ties . It is slightly large than the chim roof, but that it not a bad thing.

www.MX5parts.co.uk part no: S51405 £45.95 is a revised version of mine.

Yes, I bought one earlier this month. They are made to order with a turn round time of several weeks now. It fits perfectly and looks good but it is very expensive.

And if it's anything like the one we bought many moons ago, fabulous quality.

Hi Wingco, I might be interested if the OP isn't.

Thanks, Wingco but I am not in the UK, and as it is used, I would really prefer to see it before I buy it so thanks, but I will pass on that generous offer.

Hi Wseed,

The offer is open to anyone its hardly used and I kept for my boxter but it is a poor fit so I haven't used it. O the Chimaera it fit under the bonnet and boot lid and has straps around the side mirrors. The cover is in Stamford and your welcome to look before you buy if you give me a couple of days I will take some photos.

Hi Wingco,

I dropped you a PM regarding this last week. No problem if you're just busy but it just dawned on me that forum messaging isn't always reliable and that you may not have received it.

I've got the leven one and well, honestly, I find it'll scuff the paintwork at the top of boot where the rear cover rests.

There is a flap at the back (and front) to ti secure into the boot/bonnet. The cover must move around on top of the boot and over time scuff.

Thanks for the feedback Chimp871, perhaps I'll give this a miss then.

I’ve got the Leven one. I find it easier to fit the Leven cover than it is to try and get the roof out of the boot and then out of the bag and put on the car. The cover is easy to fit and fits really well. I haven’t found it would damage the paint. I don’t use it for extended periods, but the odd time I want to park up for a couple of hours, I fit the cover rather than the roof.

To be fair mine was on for a month or so at a time and noticed the scuff marks. Personally I find putting the roof on easier because of having to secure the flaps under the bonnet & boot.

My 2 cents

Mine is fitted when ever the car is parked at the house. Easy one man job and no issues with paint marking or damage.
