Revival Arrival Time

Hi guys,

I am going to the Revival for all 3 days but as it's my first time I'm unsure what time to arrive each day to miss the long queues to get in.

I am taking the caravan and stopping at a campsite around 6 miles away in Slindon.

The 'Over the Road' area with food and music is open until 10pm Friday and Saturday, so no need to rush off early either.

I was a newbie last year, and I arrived at about 9am each day and didn't have to wait any more than 5-10 mins to get into a car park. Ther are queues, but they are handled very quickly.

Get there about 8am you won't have to queue for more than a couple of minutes and have your breakfast over the road before crossing the bridge into the circuit.

The long-term weather forecast is not good. Rain is expected every day, sometimes persistent.

Those who were there on Saturday last year will know the problems. The perimeter pathway becomes muddy and the car parks are a morass. Take your wellies or at least a stout pair of shoes, and a period "pac-a-mac". Sweaty but dry.

I can't understand why the organisers don't sell tickets "on the day" for spare grandstand seats - they miss a trick there.

Oh yes, the rain-drenched 2016. I was there on the Saturday. Heavy rain promised all day from around 10.00am I think. 10.00am, on the dot, the rain came – and it was horrendous. It didn’t fall, really - just swept horizontally across the circuit and site in North Sea storm-style sheets. Certainly made the racing exciting when you could bear to stand and watch it. MrsT66 and I watched the Whitsun Trophy under the huge umbrella of a very kind gentleman – it was amazing to see those Lola and GT40s skidding through that chicane. We did ask about buying Grandstand tickets on the day, and were disappointed that we couldn’t – even in that horrendous weather they didn’t look anywhere near full.

I also asked about the possibility - the stewards were rather "computer says no" . All they'd need is a wireless debit card machine at each stand. It's not rocket science.

Thanks for the info guys. I will aim to be getting there around 8am then. I'm glad I'm going in the Rav4 rather than the Mustang judging by the weather forecast!

Weather doesn't look too bad, so far... fingers crossed. Last year the Puma was fine on leaving when the car park was like a minor rally stage, but it did look as though I'd just done the Paris-Dakar rally. Mind you, that's front-wheel drive and nowhere near the power of a Mustang!

OP - how did you fare at getting in to the car park?

I arrived at about 7:50am on Saturday and unsurprisingly no queues.

I was trying to recall what time I arrived last year and think it was about 10:30/11 and there was no queue then either. I guess 9:00am must be peak arrival time.

Left at about 3:30 after the RAC TT and straight out. A bit of an early departure, but the weather was somewhat testing. I have been caught in the Goodwood car park for hours several years ago so am a bit wary of leaving at peak time when the weather is bad.

I arrived between 8.00-8.30am on all three days and didn't queue more than 15 minutes. We left a little early all 3 days because I didn't fancy struggling to get out the car work. I'm glad I was in the Rav4, I would have been distraught if I was in the 67 Mustang in those conditions.

As Revival virgins, me and the wife really enjoyed the weekend. The racing, the fashions, the atmosphere, just the weather was a let down!
