Can't do the Sat/Sun at FOS so thinking about doing the Thursday/Friday.
I'm not too fussed about all the new car stuff that goes on on the Thursday but my question is are all the race cars that will run over the weekend unpacked, and available to view in the paddock etc on the Thursday?
My thought was to spend the Thursday wandering the paddocks/Cartier concours and all the show stands etc and then just enjoy the hill action on the Friday.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

In previous years when it was the "Moving Motor Show" there have been a lot of gaps and cars covered up in the paddocks although all the Cartier stuff and supercars were there.

This year it is being billed as the first day of FOS so I think the paddocks may be properly populated. Last year was starting to feel busy, I guess this year will be more so.

Its usually the best day of the weekend for getting to speak to the owners / mechanics of the cars, as well as getting decent shots of them off the track due to the smaller crowds.

It was billed as that last year too. Everything I want to see is there, Thursday is now the only FoS day I go to.

Thursday is the new Friday! I'm waiting for the day they start adding air displays and hill batches to the Thursday, then move the Moving Motorshow to Wednesday smile

It was mentioned on radio at mm that Thursday is changing and there will be more action on the hill on the Thursday. Great day to see the campus and go up to rally stage

It was close to busy last year. How long before there’s a Wednesday at FOS?

Will they actually run things like the recent F1 cars up the hill on the Thursday?

I'm led to believe that the Moving Motor Show, at least in the form seen over the last few years, will not be happening this year.

It’s on their website: https://www.goodwood.com/flagship-events/festival-...

Timed cars will make their first runs on the Thursday.

From what I understand last year, the decision was made to run cars on Thursday as "practice" for timed competitors and also Supercar and First Glance cars (Very last minute decision, almost everyone I talk to claimed that they only been told Thursday morning that day).

The reason is to make Thursday full, I remember a lot of people who come actually get a free ticket or get it for cheap. So they thought to add Supercar and Timed competitors would add more value to it.

This year would be the same, Thursday can get crowded but not as crowded as weekend.

I'm going to give Thursday a punt this year.

I've been there on the weekend every year since 2012.

Hearing that it no longer revolves around the Moving motor show sealed the deal for me.
I wasn't planning to go this year! smile

Friday used to be free as long as you picked up a copy of the Sunday Times. I'm sure once everyone catches on with Thursday all those promotional tickets will disappear too.

I'm going to do Thursday this year I think. Friday really offers no benefit over Saturday any more, you just get the added bonus of commuter traffic to deal with.

Give it ten years and I'll be attending on Monday!

Promotional tickets have been on the decline the last few years. Certainly only manufacturers have fished them out for the last 2 years that I can remember.

This could the explanation of why I've been sent a Thursday Grandstand ticket

Sorry for digging up an old post, but does anyone know the reason why the Moving Motor Show is no more?

Because it was crap? Those wanting a test drive can book in with a dealer and get a far better test away from the event.
