How bad is the traffic into FoS these days?

I thought 'this is insane' and had a look at the map, turned off and took at completely direct route though Chicester, ignored about 10 'Road closed' signs, zipped though a load of country lanes and by some miracle came out right by the car park entrance.
Thanks
You're not alone. Done this for years & years. The closed signs are only there to filter traffic away from the front doors of the rich darlings who live in the locality. Thanks
The roads/lanes are never physically closed & as you have experienced using them will often bring you to near to the front of a car park queue.
A marshal may glare or try to give you a hard time as you filter into a queue but unless they are local themselves they couldn't care a toss.
Mind you one year the road closed signs may be manned by the local angry brigade waving their walking sticks.

Bad plan. The roads/lanes are never physically closed
Thursday morning on the way in on New Road (which was use both lanes), some idiot ignored the signs and pulled out in to my path. Managed to miss them, but close to being a head-on. I think they looked right whilst turning left and pulled in to incomming traffic.
Cheers for the travel advice earlier in the thread. We left Leicester earlier than originally intended at 5.30am and arrived in Chichester at the hotel just after 8. Parked the car then went down to the train station and jumped on the shuttle bus and inside FOS by 8.45am. Apart from a little bit of traffic on the bus it was all smooth sailing
