As an idea it's sound. Your problem is you're not the only person to have it so you're trying to share the limited mobile network capacity at the circuit with 250,000 other people.

The reality is around the start/end of the race you're waiting for the WEC app to update with static data so don't have a hope in hell of streaming anything. You might get something working outside peak times when you're back at your tent...but then that's when everyne else is also back at their tents trying to stream coverage on their phones/tablets.

As stated before, the sharing of data with 250,000 other people really starts to show from Friday , as more people arrive it gets harder to get a reliable data stream.

Also, you do need to consider that most Carriers limit the bandwidth to Roaming partners, for example Three have roaming agreements that only ever give you 3G overseas, you will not get any 4G signal until you get back to the UK. This has now been confirmed by Three on their Twitter stream.

Even before they did this, I did a test in a few countries and compared data speeds with a local SIM to my overseas one, and in each and every case, the Local Sim got better speeds.

We plan to try again by getting a Mobile Broadband data sim from a French Network when we get to Le Mans in 2019.

The only reliable way to get a picture on a TV is to get a Dish and use German Eurosport and Radio Le Mans.

Data hardly worked at all last year. Far worse than I've known it before.

Very annoying watching the locals streaming away but the visitors just had the spinny wheel

Travel Destinations have a wi-fi in the camp site, never tried in in 2017 but will give it a go in 2019.

Both of my lads were getting very good 4g connections on their iPhones this year - I had naff-all on my Android, so the lads set up a hot-spot, which I used whenever I needed access to emails and the like

Streaming was iffy all weekend though
