Didn't see a general FoS thread but just wanted to say we went down yesterday, the first time I've been in over 10 years, I can't believe how much its expanded.
I got my tickets from Mission Motorsport courtesy of the nice guy who owns Thakeham homes. No chance would I and the missus been able to go without his help.
What struck me most was how nice all the staff were and how ready to help. Particular hats off to the light year one guys who chatted for ages and the guy on the RR wraith stand who took us behind the barrier, without us asking.
Dispute getting there before 9 and leaving at 1830 we didn't get to see everything. Was cool seeing a Gen 1 Insight on the Honda stand having driven 500 miles in one to get there.
And I only saw 2 topless men, one eastern european and an italian guy doing that chinos, blazer and got look they seem to go for.
I now like Esteban Econ even more, what a legend for totally abusing the Merc all the way up the hill, twice.

They’ll miss the shoot out if they do. Not to mention the free champers and cake, and getting to meet and greet some of the star acts in the house after the presentations. Stay till after that and the ‘escape’ is far easier.Edited by GOATever on Sunday 7th July 15:52
Went yesterday (sat) perfect weather, saw lots of interesting stuff even the management, who isn't a car person, was impressed. She was impressed by the paddock and how close you could get to stuff.
I have one question though, how much did this year's camping cost because we saw lots but didn't see all of it so next year it might be a longer stay is required

really enjoyed the weekend - went for Friday to Sunday (half day Sunday). It worked the 4 day package was not much more than Sat + Sun.
One negative thing, seems like some of the "prestige" brands are reducing their stands. BMW much smaller than last year, same for Merc and Porsche (retail) disappeared a couple of years ago.

Porsche have a large stand, but it is somewhat hidden away behind the Jaguar drift track near car park M. They use this area so that can run their off road experience, but it does make them hard to find.595Heaven said:

The event was something else, even the Mrs enjoyed it. Never seen such an array of machinery, to get so close to so many rare classic and current race cars was amazing, the paddock was a real highlight, as were the timed runs up the hill. No other car event I have been to comes close, we will be returning next year!
Went my first FOS Saturday and Sunday. Did 7am to 7pm both days and loved it all.
Saturday was baking hot, walked all over the site, watched some of the rally stages and most of the hill climbs, met Sir jacky, Agostini, and Parrish. had a few beers in the sun, light traffic leaving on the end of an awesome 1st day.
Sunday, bit of light rain/drizzle in the morning but no big deal. Visited the bits I missed first time around and what I wanted to see the most mainly drift and stunt shows, tried and failed to meet bottas and Ricardo so got pictures instead, sun came out after lunch, had a few beers. The place emptied after the shootout so had another look around the pits with no crowds. Zero traffic on leaving.
So things I learnt from my 1st FOS.
Get there as early and leave as late as you can.
A grandstand seat isn't necessary, I didn't miss anything and probably saw more than some of the low tier grandstand seats.
'The place is rammed' is isn't true, Sunday was busier but neither packed out imho.
I got much closer to the cars/people/action than I thought I would. Cant believe how i could just wander through the pits and talk to owners etc.
Food prices are astronomical. Beer is acceptable (ok it's also expensive but its beer!)
There are sneaky clothes and shoe stalls hidden amongst the petrohead stuff which my wife took advantage of.

An excellent event as usual. Noticibly less enthusiasm it seemed to me on the dealership stands . Also lack of complimentary beverages to owners .
Having said that the stalls and stands were more interesting and less non vehicle related goods . Having marshalled on Thursday and spectated on Saturday overall good as always, I m o .
