As usual I did all 4 days 1st year as grrc member so enjoyed Kinrara Thursday and enclosure. Always enjoy event make plan of action for each day and get to see all I want too. Arena too busy on Sunday but not that worried was fortunate to get Trackside on Sunday for 2ND running of f1. Bottom line if you didn't enjoy it at least you tried and don't come again plenty will

regarding my post, we all have different expectations I guess, I had been numerous times before that and had a great time, less crowded, parking was easier, great cars, better access.

but the last time I went which was a good few years inbetween, I simply noticed a very different crowd.

As people say if I don't go plenty will, no loss, I guess my tolerance for stuff lowers hence i simply do not attend over priced, crowded events like this anymore, unless i absolutely have to.

And thankfully none of these things are necessary, so quite happy to enjoy them on tv.

Regarding the sullen and sarcastic remarks about me being a complainer, I make no bones about it, you don't have to comment or remark, not all of us live our lives in rose tinted specs with smiles on our faces, some of us are built differently.

If something matches my expectations I will go again spread the word. If it doesn't, where else can you tell people? Obviously I would not attend again, but voicing an opinion is fair enough, if you don't like it I don't give a flying **** But what I won't do is call you out and be ride and obnoxious about you.

Whilst the BMW stand didn't offer free tea/coffee for all owners, strangely the MINI stand did!
didn't realise it was free at the MINI stand! would've bagged a coffee had I known! (it was a cool stand they had there!)

Finally, a few posts above someone was criticising Lorina and her Benetton not being fast enough. You should remember that it's her car and if she bins it it's her problem whereas most of the celeb drivers, racing drivers etc can just shrug their shoulders and walk away if they bin something.

I know that, but it's the same every year. She's miles off the pace, why keep inviting her? There must be other 90s F1 cars and drivers available, it's the same with that other woman and her Ferrari-every year the same old.

Not only that, but half the wassocks on here who don’t have anything in their garage profile probably couldn’t even get her car off the line!

No just occasional track days. I rarely I get recreational time. Wtf has that go to do with this conversation. Some diversion tactic hehe

Goodwood isn’t a race either. It’s an exhibition where some choose to set times on a hill climb.

If you don't understand the reasons why people like that get to do those runs, you don't really understand the way top level motorsport works, same reason Judy Lyons is allowed to race an F1 car at historic GP meetings.

it is farcical, embarrassing and pathetic.

But that is the way it is because of power and influence, nothing more.

That's the way to do it. Shame such a comfortable way to see everything is now out of the fiscal reach of many. I repeat the FoS is increasingly for the elite.

Yeah I get racing, know a few people.

Yes she’s high net wealth. So what. What’s your problem with it. She brings out a historic formula 1 car to share it with the general public.

Goodwood is an awesome place to do hospitality end of. People like her, contribute to the day, not everyone is there for some amazing racing spectacle. They like exhibition.

I have my membership for the facilities and hospitality. There’s few other venues like it.

The British Grand Prix is held at a ram shackle venue, which has very little investment.

It is not the cheapest 3 days and I am fortunate to go to all of goodwood events and also live only 6 miles from circuit I tend to think the time I spend at circuit outside of main events ie practice days sprint days etc as a bonus. Having said that if ispend3 days camping and entrance at brands for bsb the cost is a lot less but that is the way it is I'm afraid

Corporate hospitality has always been expensive and will always be out of reach for the majority but the idea that the FOS is increasingly for the elite is a little misleading.

The vast majority of attendees go with a basic entrance ticket and possibly a roving grandstand ticket and numbers are strong.

FWIW I usually attend on at least one day every year and no longer see any value in Kinrara or the roving grandstands. I much prefer ambling around the whole event and a walk around the paddock is far more interesting than 15 minutes in a grandstand watching a non-competitive climb.

I see no evidence that the FOS will lose any of its appeal. The same people moan about the price of a burger, a pint and rich people every time a Goodwood event is held. I wish they'd just go somewhere they feel they're getting vfm like Lidl or the local Harvester. I regard £70 or so as outstanding value for a day's admission. You can even take your own sandwiches if £8 for a burger is too much.

I only watched the TV stuff on Ch 4 . The lissom Ms Bradbury aside. it was borderline tedious- is anyone over 12 remotely interested in yet ANOTHER overhyped supercar burning some rubber at FoS before, like 99% of them , disappearing without trace? And drift cars- beautifully prepared, lots of bhp but condemned to be driven at 25mph by gurning surfer dudes ?

I like motorsport , not family fun panto , so I'll give the FoS (another) miss next year . Grumpy - and proud of it !

How much time did the drift cars spend on the tarmac each day? 15 minutes maybe? I don't have any interest in the rally stage or the Porsche stand but I don't feel the need to post about it. Surely it's inevitable that with such a large event there will be elements we arent interested in or even actively dislike? If you want to like everything you really need to run your own show.

There is a recurring theme on this forum that anyone saying anything bad is bad mouthed for saying anything bad. (great sentence structure don't you think)

And people use pathetic examples like I don't watch football or poker or flower arranging and don't go on their forums saying bad things about it.

Well I used to watch F1, went to Goodwood, Classic etc for years. But don't anymore.

Those events have changed a lot for the worse in my opinion so I and anyone else in that position are more than qualified to have an opinion. You might not like, but neither do I when people say, "why say anything if you don't like the event". That's just it, I used to, don't you see?

If you love these events and think they are marvellous, bully for you, continue to make rich men richer. But there are those of us with different standards.

Why do you feel the need to post on forums about things you don't do anymore? It does seem like a waste of your time. Attendance is a waste of time and then you waste even more time telling people about it. It's not like you're going to persuade anyone they're wrong and the event they liked was really rubbish is it?

I went for the first time this year (on the rainy Sunday) and loved it.

From the minute we parked and were offered a landrover ride to the entrance to the second we left everything was great.

great access to some amazing machines, a free flag from the ferrari stand for our 2 year old, good chats with the drivers waiting to go up the hill in the astons.

Really enjoyed it and would look at going for 2 days next year.

I had an opinion , and shared it . That's sort of , y'know, what people do on forums. Reason for opinion ? Super and hyper cars are tedious in large doses and I'd rather see racing cars (as the FoS used to feature almost exclusively) than down with da kidz drift japes. .

Feel free to disagree - you did 'feel the need' to post - just as I did , It would be so very tedious if we all shared identical likes and dislikes, no ?

You should definitely stay away and keep watching it on TV. It sounds as if it's not for you anymore and with TV you can omit everything you don't like about ut.

I do the same with horse racing. I'm not interested in fashion or the latest regulations. I just want to see the race.

It's interesting how Goodwood is changing. I think it has to as tastes change. It's always changing I suppose. Who outside a tiny minority is now interested in vintage cars (London to Brighton variety)? I expect in another 100 years there'll be hardly any Zondas, etc. That's life.

Exactly - completely agree. It's the same story every year. The same old posters treating Goodwood events like an old girlfriend that dumped them 10 years ago. Everyone else has moved on, yet they just can't let go. Despite all evidence to the contrary, they are convinced there's a chance that she'll come back, but can't resist a bit of serial stalking in the meantime.

Why are you on here? I mean seriously - the 'justification' a few posts back was pretty lame, so there must be more to this?

We get that you don't like it anymore. We got that last year too. And the year before that...

FWIW, this was my 25th Festival of Speed, and a week on, I can't wait for my 26th.
