78th Members Meeting
Discussion
Fortunately I only do the Goodwood events every other year anyway ( except for the MM ) so I don’t mind skipping next year.
Plus there’s the slightly thorny issue of what the economy is going to be like next year. Will people still feel like buying £50 hamburgers ( slight exaggeration I know ) etc.

Keeping it as the 78th is the way to do it (in my opinion) you can sell the same merchandise, use the same signage and just generally keep the costs down.
Not necessarily aimed at you, but I am not sure what the debate is because whenever it is run it is the 78th Members' Meeting. That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered all the other merch, although I suspect a lot of it will have dates on it, and anything that includes the running order or specific cars will probably need to be redone because I doubt they’ll get everyone back next year.
I notice on the government address today they made a point that this will be with us for quite some time, certainly through next spring. So sadly I think its quite possible the MM wont happen next year either.

One good thing at the moment is that hotels etc don't appear to have added a Goodwood event tax for the new (provisional) dates, so presumably demand has been fairly low so far.
Plenty of pay later, free cancellation rooms on booking.com etc at the moment so risk free in terms of the event moving or being cancelled. My usual hotel in Arundel was the cheapest booking I've ever made for a Goodwood event.

Goodwood MM78 ticket refund has appeared on my credit card ( minus the delivery charge, which I’ll let them off for because technically they did that bit ). So it seems if you are struggling the place to make contact is social media. Anywho, they promised me on Saturday it would be sorted out and by Wednesday I have the money back. Much more the excellent level of service we all recognise from Goodwood.

does MM compete with F1? obvs fos and to a lesser degree revival do
I think they'd accept a clash with F1 for the MM, particularly next year. There is very little overlap, certainly not any deal breakers typically. It's also probably the case that the F1 calendar will remain provisional until far too late in the day to move it should there be a late clash.FoS has a huge amount of overlap so they don't typically entertain running it on the same weekend as a major event (F1 first, Le Mans second) if they could at all help it, but again given the situation this year I think if they were going to suck that up, next year would the year they would do it.

I was just replying to a previous post were there was mention of running it as the 79th, as you say it wouldn't be so best to keep it as the 78th The test for the events going ahead next year will be what happens during the winter, no second spike (mixed in with the 'normal' flu season) and we will probably be good to go (at some point) if there is a second spike then restrictions are likely to remain or return.
Hopefully the possible October closed door event will go ahead and give us all a little Goodwood fix from the comfort of our own homes

OmniCognate it sounds like we are dealing with some of the same companies, it took a while of going round the houses with both Disney and Universal before they took on board the situation of not being able to travel from the UK and froze our Annual passes, Sea world haven't responded yet and after an hour on hold yesterday we got cut off.
If, like mine, your list included Circque Du Soliel, unfortunately they filed for Chapter 11 yesterday, so I think its going to take a while to get any money back from them. I may have no choice but to do a section 75 on that one ukaskew said:

I got screwed by this, this year, or would have been had the MM occurred. Goodwood moved the meeting out two weeks after the snow of a couple of years back, only to move it back 1 week this year because of a clash with F1, having previously published the dates which didn't clash with my holiday but the new dates did.

They actually confirmed the dates, having originally said they were provisional - then moved them after they were confirmed.Goodwood moved the meeting out two weeks after the snow of a couple of years back, only to move it back 1 week this year because of a clash with F1, having previously published the dates which didn't clash with my holiday but the new dates did.
I don't have any inside knowledge, but I am fully expecting next year's provisional date to change.
I promise I won't mention it again!
