That would be a real shame if it is cancelled. I had persuaded the other half to get up at 5am and come with me as the first event I would be taking my new toy to even though we are out Saturday night with friends. Will check in here again before then in case anyone gets a definitive

I can confirm that the marshals have been stood down for Sunday. I am sure there will formal comms from Goodwood soon.

I just rang Goodwood to ask them if going ahead based on the previous posts and was told 'an e-mail will be going out tomorrow' but not able to tell me what it will say despite me asking. Read into that what we may...... frown

Shame, but it sounds like you know what you are talking about, so I'm going to assume it's off.

The frustrating thing is it's the preservation for car parks that the spectators use has caused the cancellation not the participants who would be with in the circuit where apart from the odd puddle there is no issues, a little selfish maybe but couldn't goodwood let the participants carry on with the morning and any spectators who still wish to attend would have to park elsewhere hoping not to upset the locals (blocking there driveways ect) and either walk, taxi or bus to goodwood, only a thought ,rolleyes

That is completely impractical ,there'd be cars abandoned all over the shop.

I do hope that if you had been accepted to display your vehicle this time, they will accept you again for the new date in October.

Goodwood has become the new British Rail - taken completely by surprise every time British weather arrives in Britain.

Just reapply, it's very simple. I did a couple of hours ago, took all of 30 seconds.

Because the public, of which there are a large number, park in the fields surrounding the track that is, IMO, a totally unfair remark. If you can predict the weather 3 - 4 weeks in advance I suggest you apply for a senior job at the Met Office. Else, just accept that it's a free met-up with breakfast options and the organisers do the best hey can. hehe

Cheers for that, have re-applied.

It's a shame, I was looking forward to that.

Is the Guildford meet up still happening? biggrin

It is indeed a shame, I was intending to come down in my Griff, roof off obviously, so if it's pissing down that would be no fun. frown

Oh no cry

Very disappointed.

However, it did look like it was touch and go with the latest forecast suggesting persistent rain for the next few days.

I'm still tempted to get up in the early hour just to do the drive, that's one of the highlight of the event for me biggrin

Who knows, I might end up meeting others who haven't checked tomorrow's email.

Quite simple really, Anyone with half a brain is fully aware that change in climate is happening, its getting wetter, Members meeting with snow!

So if you are going to run an estate where you want the public to attend then you need to step up how you manage drainage. Not necessarily cheap to fix but, land management is needed.

Plus the members meeting is a paid event.
MM76, snow, remember how torn up the fields were then?! I struggled to get the Uber wagon out!!

I wonder why they don't just tarmac the parking areas? Or are the fields used for something else when there aren't events on?

There are plenty of ways to keep a green field green and still have good parking.

Here's a couple of surface dressing examples

https://www.ultimate-one.co.uk/grass-reinforcement...

But the real way to deal with it is to install good drainage under the top soil.
