At least the decision has been made. Sadly for us, 2021 won't be an option, especially as the covid nonsense has made the future uncertain for both of us employment-wise/financially.

2020 has turned out to be a total fking write-off. frown

I hope Goodwood can survive the crisis - I feel incredibly fortunate that such a place exists. Which is why I won't be asking for any refunds and will be making a donation to help them out.
Me too.

I imagine Lord March will be fine, I can see a lot of his staff looking elsewhere though, at least in the short term.
I am really disappointed having got a new camera that both this, and the airshows I was planning to attend are not happening, but, I have a job, and I have my health, which kind of puts it into perspective.

The 'Patron' status looks interesting - I dare not ask how much that will cost - it is going to be out of my league.
The answer to the question is £5,000 to become a GSA patron for life.

What do you get as a GSA patron for life?

I'll be continuing my GRRC membership going into next year and I had only purchased tickets to the MM for this year so whilst its disappointing, we aren't talking thousands

I have enquired about the Patron for Life programme, the benefits are:

Bespoke Pin
Patron Armband
Name engraved on pit wall.
Entry for you and guest to pit lane gantry for every Revival
Commemorative patch for your overalls

If you have the spare ££ thats pretty cool... I assume pit lane gantry is the "pit lane roof" ...

I am semi interested in the Patron stuff. The trouble is - I have access to the pit lane roof at the MM and the MM is the better meeting these days, indeed its the one we attend in full. Only really attend the Revival for the first day now.

And walking about with an armband on? Yeah, Im going to feel a twonk doing that!

Does anyone one know who is allowed entry to the pit lane gantry currently for the Revival.
I’m trying to imagine if it’s a select few or six deep?

The pit roof is pretty packed for the big races TT etc... (not 6 deep... maybe two deep along the rail) there are also small elevated stands that you can stand on behind... smaller low key ones are ok...

normally quite empty at ground level in and around behind the pit building... access is only for corporate boxes, team and press etc...

Thanks Lynchie999, it sounds as though that’s a decent benefit.
I’ve been up there before for track days previously.
I’m torn between supporting the L3 GSA Paddock Club or going the whole hog and going Patron for Life.
I’ll definitely do one or the other.

I will roll over my tickets as I had always intended to but the GSA doesn’t seem to offer any meaningful benefits unless I fork out another £300 on top of the £1000 plus I’ve already spent on membership and tickets this year.

I’m sure Goodwood will survive very nicely without me bunging further money their way.
It isn't clear what benefits there are, but I think it is more of just effectively making a donation to keep things running.
I am 'happy' to forego the £240 membership fee and effectively pay that to the 'charity' GSA.
However, it doesn't look like a Member 'losing' £240 really gets any more* than a Fellow losing £39 + the £100 donation. That is another discussion.
  • Unless a brass plaque is important to you.
The 'Patron' status looks interesting - I dare not ask how much that will cost - it is going to be out of my league.

So, it appears for your one-off donation, you get to belong to the GSA regardless of whether you are a Member or a Fellow.

At least we have clarity... and 15 months to get the '61 Jag back on the road.
Joint (Family members) pay £340 and for that extra £100 over the standard fee we get an extra tin badge, car sticker and a brass plaque with two names instead of one!

Don't you mean Duke of Richmond.

I couldn't see a thread for this year's event, so I'll place this here.

I'm booking flights from Ireland in expectation that the Revival will proceed if the FoS doesn't kill everyone who attends, and I've got a choice of early morning or late afternoon. Am I correct in thinking that free access is allowed on Thursday for a general walkabout in the hope that stands/shops and some entrants will have been installed? I might get the early flight if that's the case.

PS No tickets have arrived yet. I hope that's the same for everyone.

If it is the same as 2019, then the 'Over The Road' is open on the Thursday evening. You still need a ticket - but obviously just for one of the oyther days as there is no such thing as a Thursday ticket. I don't think there is any circuit access.

Thanks. Sounds like limited access and not worth getting out of bed at 6.00am ! My decision is made - afternoon flight it is.

Keep it stiff

My tickets arrived a couple of weeks ago, Goodwood send them out in batches and hence it is usual for people to get them many weeks apart.

On Thursday there will be plenty going on however unless you are with a competitor or exhibitor you won't get into the circuit. As someone mentioned "over the road" will be open, campsites will be active, there are always things to see.
