All in all, it doesn’t appeal to me one bit until restrictions can be properly lifted – I’m not keen to be part of the Government’s Events Research Programme i.e. spend a day in a state-sponsored petri dish, and then be released into the community, just to keep his Lordship in Krug.
Though I wish the event well, I agree with the above totally. All in all, it doesn’t appeal to me one bit until restrictions can be properly lifted – I’m not keen to be part of the Government’s Events Research Programme i.e. spend a day in a state-sponsored petri dish, and then be released into the community, just to keep his Lordship in Krug.
I am even in two minds about Revival - I don't fancy mixing with 50k * 3 days of hot sweaty people from all over the country (or world) breathing on me. Back of the circuit should be fine, but that means I would 'miss' all the stuff around the paddocks etc.
It is an odd one - if you haven't 'seen' CV-19 it all seems nonsense - and I think that applies to the majority of the population.
I thought the same until it hit me - 9 days in intensive care - and I am not elderly and am reasonably fit.
I also don't want to risk 'importing' anything in to my home environment as I have vulnerable people in the house.
I am not being 'soft' or particularly risk adverse - but for it to 'fly' at this time, I think it needs seriously reduced numbers. I fully understand that means it doesn't stack up financially.

As a wheelchair user this whole uncertainly is pretty concerning for me.I am even in two minds about Revival - I don't fancy mixing with 50k * 3 days of hot sweaty people from all over the country (or world) breathing on me. I've been to the FoS numerous times and I've greatly enjoyed it, but for a wheelchair user it's a frustrating experience. Huge amounts of people standing in front of you, tight viewing areas, etc. The idea of having the same amount of people in a more restricted area sounds horrendous.
Of course I would have no idea where I'd stand in requesting a refund if this is the proposal.
I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Viewing for mere mortals has got progressively worse as Goodwood panders more and more to ‘social influencers’. You stand patiently waiting for a favourite car or driver to appear and some prat in linen trousers and teeth that are brighter than LED headlights wanders in front of you with his access all areas pass. The only influence they have on me is a desire to deck them.I've been to the FoS numerous times and I've greatly enjoyed it, but for a wheelchair user it's a frustrating experience. The reality of this year’s FOS is that it takes so long to arrange that I suspect it’s either already set up ready to go (let’s hope so), or it’s not.
If it’s to go ahead on the planned date it needs to be all ready to go now. I’ll be sad to miss it this year as I’ve been to every one so far apart from two.
I’m not even bothered if it’s a vastly scaled back event like the early years. There was a period a few years back when it became so popular that some people came and spent the day sitting drinking and getting sunburnt and not watching the event. You can do that for a lot less money in your garden. Glad that period has passed.

I'm with you on that one, a scaled back event could be great, I'd love it if it had a more back to basics feel. The 'usual' cars are stunning, don't get me wrong, but attending every year it's obviously largely a similar pool of cars/batches on the hill itself, if they are forced to look to other UK series and classes to flesh out due to a lack of international support it would be great. I'd love to see a 'UK club racing' batch showcasing some of the incredible diversity of motor racing we have in the UK, there are some incredible creations out there. I'd love to see different classes of road car represented (an 80s supercar batch would be hugely popular and not too difficult to pull together within the UK) etc etc.Edited by ch37 on Sunday 20th June 22:47

I wonder if we will get the confirmation tomorrow/next week for the go ahead
The sensible thing would be a decision this week? I had to pay some of my FOS accommodation (£500+) this weekend so whether the event is on or not i’ll be using that. I have a different nights accommodation to pay due to not being able to get the dates for the main place, but really don’t want to pay that one as well.I’m sure there’s a fair few people in the same position as it’s only two weeks away.
Goodwood have already said that there will be an announcement (early) this week, I know it is massively frustrating for everyone however all we can do is wait, absolutely nothing that we do will influence the decision (apart from people sticking to Covid advice which seem to be slipping more and more) , if you can't change what's going to happen there is no point in worrying about it until the announcement is made

I feel for those with accommodation booked as even if the event is cancelled I doubt many will get a refund as you can stay in the accommodation. Although may be an excuse to explore the area.
Currently planning a day at Marwell Zoo plus a morning in Brighton (never been before!), although checking my accommodation (AirBnB) it is free cancellation until July 4th.ecsrobin said:

I booked the Travelodge in the centre of Chichester. I can cancel right up to arrival, and will get a full refund if I do. mk1coopers said:

Quite right. It's a fools game trying to guess but he's only talking about the 19th today, I don't think Goodwood can rely on a 'maybe' for July 5th given that's a matter of days before the event.
My guess is one of these...
1. Test event at full capacity.
2. Behind closed doors event, live streamed with <4000 of the biggest backers invited to be wined and dined for the weekend.
I can't see any 'in-between' option with paddock segregation etc being feasible at this stage, that just pens more spectators into an area that has got smaller and smaller every year.
And a very, very slim outside chance of a event postponed by a few weeks.
