Surprisingly, you would think that joining the waitlist is automatic when joining the fellowship, but in traditional Goodwood style that is not the case and I suspect your friend has not ticked the box.
I would think the same, and he did tick the box. There doesn't seem to be a straightforward way of looking online but if he goes to his purchase history there should be a zero-cost purchase for "GRRC - Member in Waiting".
If you have a lot of transactions you can filter by Product Type: "Memberships", which is below "Home Games", "Away Games" and "Season Tickets". Do you get the feeling Goodwood bought this system secondhand?

Dear RGG,
Please ask your friend to contact the GRRC team - they will be able to see when he joined the 'member-in-waiting' list and therefore be able to advise when he might be invited to upgrade. The invitations are sent purely based on who is at the top of the 'member-in-waiting' list - no other criteria apply.
The GRRC team can be contacted by telephone (+44 (0)1243 755057) or by email (grrc@goodwood.com).
With best wishes,
Sarah

I'll do that.
Then we'll see what the actual position is.
The "Fellow" membership - I did think in the conversational moment - Has it been going for six years.
Then, I couldn't find my way to saying that I had just joined the "Full Membership" after two years.
Anyway, I'll let him know about your suggestion.
Thanks again.

(Channeling my inner Andy Zaltzman...) The fellowship launched in June 2017. It cost £39 and had 7,800 "Fellows"(sic) by the end of the year.Yes, Hanlon's Razor!
Would you mind if I added a [sic] to your (sic)

I beg your pardon.

£355 this year.
So no change. I was going to make a longer post about the renewals a while back - but then thought - what is the point - it is, what it is.
It didn't get 'better' this last year. I didn't really see any 'benefits', but I am too stupid accept defeat and give up.
Almost nothing happened on the forum - accept the one post which cheered me up where a member was complaining that the GRRC window sticker 'glue' wasn't very sticky. The forum looks largely abandoned, bar some ticket resale stuff. Maybe because they moved stuff to Facebook - which then excludes me.
I didn't find any of the new areas this year, apparently something was in the infield at Madgwick. but I must have walked past it.
I finally realised that FoS (sponsored by Bank-o-card) isn't something I like. I realised I should stop trying to like it and just not bother. I was entirely happy with that choice and watched literally 10 minutes on the live stream and saw that I had made the right choice. Not a downer on those who think it is great - everyone is different - it just isn't my thing. It does however make the membership effectively 'more expensive' per event that I do go to.
I still think there is a case for splitting, hill members and circuit members - but it won't happen.
Revival - my main memory this year was a group of 'schoolboys' (or at least fully grown men in schoolboy outfits) who were drunk out of their trees, mouthy and obnoxious - who then crammed in to one of the covered areas around the back of the circuit and propmpty stood in front of people who had got a seat/location and had been sitting there for ages waiting for a race to start.
Certainly not the 'right crowd and no crowding'. It has reduced to being a place to be seen, and not really for motorsport enthusiasts.
Members' meeting - this remains the high light. Hopefully it won't get ruined.

To that merry band I'll add the couple who used one of the disabled viewing platforms as a weekend long, free of charge, grandstand. No mobility aids, they walked fine, both of them at different times were able to go off solo & return ladened down with food and drinks.
The great thing was, people in wheelchairs were stuck outside where they couldn't see & in the rain...
What a pair of selfish unrelenting stnuc.

Has anyone else received an invitation to upgrade to full member from Fellowship?
I’ve just got a letter, a little surprised to get it though as I only declined the opportunity a year ago because a joining fee was being applied, despite being a Fellowship member for many years.
I recall being sternly informed that I’d be moved to the back of the queue, which I thought was a 3 year wait or more, so I wasn’t expecting the invitation so soon.
I was keen to do it, but the £375 fee is rather more than I’d expected & not sure I’m convinced by whats offered beyond Fellowship. I guess that existing members may have questioned the value of this too which is why my invitation has come through so quickly. I’m kind of on the fence right now…

Does that mean this year's membership fee is £375?I ve just got a letter, a little surprised to get it though as I only declined the opportunity a year ago because a joining fee was being applied, despite being a Fellowship member for many years.

Usually, the joining fee is the same as that year's membership.. i.e. you pay two lots in the first year.
But as I understand it, you get your fees, paid whilst an Associate Member, knocked off.
Goodwood aren't the equivalent of Easyjet. They don't want to be perceived as cheap, they aren't cheap and they don't need to be.
Is Wentworth membership cheap? Too expensive? Well then play at the local municipal course.
I cannot understand why people get hugely exercised by the cost of joining something that is completely optional. Where I get more interested is when costs are increased above the rate of inflation at the same time as membership benefits are eroded.

I think the membership fee is worth it just to get access to the lavant bank parking so I can take my car full of champagne right up to the edge of the circuit for the members meeting and the revival.
anything else is just a bonus, but they do organise some good regional drives around the country which are free so I try and book as many of those as possible.
and regular use of the kennels for drinks, lunches and dinners is quite nice if you live locally.
