There used to be specific themed displays and demonstrations like Top Fuel Dragsters or BMX etc on the Cricket Pitch in years gone by. Is that still a thing or has the space been given over to manufacturer displays now?
It's still a thingThis year they built large dirt jumps for MTB, BMX and Moto X. My Son enjoyed these shows, watching the MTB riders do front flips and a double back flip

Update: Looking through my photos I see the sand sculptures were 2006, I can hardly believe it was that long ago. I'd forgotten there was a live music stage there too.

That's not the cricket pitch, though. There hasn't been anything there for a few years, that area is just used as seating for the food outlets now. I miss the cricket pitch displays; the sand sculptures were one of my favourites.

Oooo, I’d forgotten about them. We were there in 2006 for the sand sculptures.Update: Looking through my photos I see the sand sculptures were 2006, I can hardly believe it was that long ago. I'd forgotten there was a live music stage there too.

If I could make one more contribution to this rat hole (perhaps it deserves its own thread).
Looking further through my snaps, I'm reminded of the "Daytona Beach / Land Speed Record Holders" of 2013.

I can't remember when the cricket pitch displays started to decline, or when the live music stopped. I recall a disappointing exhibition of photographs one year.
The last pictures I have are of the Bentley Centenary celebration in 2019 which consisted of a few of WO's finest parked on the wicket.

I think that was probably the last time there was anything of interest on the cricket pitch.
I return you to 2025.
