I spent a very frustrating half hour in the early hours of this morning trying to find my ticket for today's breakfast club. Nothing in the app, and the website just took me round and round in circles through outdated pages. I gave up and went back to bed! When will Goodwood sort its IT out?
I thought that I had forgotten to book a ticket and so had my mate who I usually go with. I was sure I had so rang the ticketing office after checking my account which did appear empty.“No sir, I can confirm that you haven t booked a ticket,”
Guess what turned up in my inbox on Friday ..
I couldn t go by then as I had made other plans but it shows the new system still has some bugs.

I was marshalling yesterday. I thought it was an excellent morning with the various area s dedicated to the cars of the years.
I thought Sunday was the best of the 'new look' Breakfast Clubs so far. Plenty of cars, although the paddocks remain oddly sparse.Personally, I’m not a fan of grouping the cars together, too much like individual one make car shows, which I actively avoid now, I liked the randomness of parking as you arrived.
With the grid, I can understand why they changed that as people were getting there earlier and earlier to get a spot.

I couldn't make it, my cars being hors de combat, but by new look do you mean themed in the three paddock areas?
Yes the paddocks just feel empty and like others a load of cars all looking the same except the colour is a breeding ground for rivet counters
I had completely forgot it was on then saw something on Saturday evening but don’t remember any reminder from Goodwood or the app.
I probably won’t bother next year if the format is going to be the same.

Hasn't the grid always been pre-allocared, or has that changed too? With the grid, I can understand why they changed that as people were getting there earlier and earlier to get a spot.

It felt a bit like the early Breakfast Clubs attendance wise (a major positive) but like you wasn't sure on the format, I know it's free and appreciate the effort the marshals put in but it was a bit...boring.

We had the app nightmare on Sunday morning too and actually on reflection should probably have just turned the car around and did something different. I like a classic but lines of the same old E types, Austin Healey and Triumphs (the sort of cars for enthusiasts rapidly disappearing) just aren't my thing...maybe moving the date forward to pre 2000 might make it a bit more interesting?
I guess though the Breakfast Club is on very borrowed time and we should just be "thankful" it still exists as not sure it fits with the current Goodwood portfolio, we'll see.

Frankly there are plenty of events for what I'd call modern cars, hot-hatches, fast Fords and, of course, Super/Hyper cars, e.g. Goodwood have Supercar Sunday breakfast meet. Coincidentally I steer clear of Supercar Sunday because, I have zero interest in rows of Red Ferraris, lime green Lambos and purple McLarens.
Don't think I mentioned Supercars/hot hatches/fast Fords anywhere in my post....just suggested moving the cut off date as the current catchment is getting a bit stale (IMO). Goodwood have cut out a lot of the themes they used to support at BC and they aren't coming back.
As I alluded to though my view is that it's all part of the "new" Goodwood business model and ethos.

In the early days of the BC, before having to apply for entry, I remember being directed to the grid on several occasions, then as it got more popular, people got the even earlier to get a grid spot.I appreciate the effort that goes into these events, and have done two of this years Sunday Drives with the car to support them, I hope they continue, I just prefer, (apart from the grid), the older random parking.

That's why I'm genuinely confused as to what you mean by 'move the cut off date', because there isn't one.
Last Sunday's Classic theme was exclusively for cars registered before 1995 I believe.Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
