Stopped in at the local Saffa shop on the way home today, and there was
a number 3 pot sitting on the shelf looking at me the way a puppy dog does
when you go looking for a new dog at the RSPCA.

Any of you lot have any good potjie tips?

My dad tells me I need to burn it in,then smear some fat on the inside?

And the weather, fk the weather, Im gonna make a plan!

Cheers!

I have never had a potjie frown no idea why though. It is about time I had one so any tips and recipes would be helpful (and some sun would not go amiss either)grumpy

I have never experienced a potjie. Sounds like a stew just cooked over a fire? Raining here as usual..hope you had a good potjie unless it is raining there too.

Yup,on paper that's what it is...

But it is just so much more,no oven/pot combination can give that taste, will put a couple of pics up in the morrow,it did start raining, but a plan was surely made!

Started to rain,so we got this up in about 5 minutes, and that was the last of the rain! (excuse the state of the back garden!)

No tips unfortunately, potjies were never really my thing, though my dad (a scouser!) loved doing them.

I've got to say though, well done for the proper boer maak 'n plan job on the weather protection!

Great photos. thumbup

I've got a number 3 sitting in the garage waiting to be used.

Remember to smear the inside with cooking oil and fill with crumpled newspaper. It'll help stop it from oxidizing when not in use.

Potjie...?
Well the manne claim it to be awesome.
Although I do believe there is quite a skill required to make a tasty "potjie", I personally think its just a different way of making a stew. Give me a good ol' braai anyday!
