Looking for a 105 series Alfa and reckon that since they were made in SA and climate is kinder to cars, it would be a good place to look (combined with a trip to the wineries and/or a safari) but google does not throw up any dealers.

Anyone got any suggestions/recommendations?

You're presumably wanting to buy in the Cape Town area then?

I guess that's right, although (depending on the costs of internal flights, etc, which I have not looked into) would be prepared to travel elsewhere if there was a reputbale dealer with decent stock there.

Buying a car from near the coast carries the obvious risk of rust. If you can get a vehicle from inland you'd probably be better off. Have you looked into the costs of shipping, import taxes, etc? They quickly add up and it can work out much expensive than simply buying from the UK (or somewhere in Europe even).

Alfa have a few dealerships in the Cape linky
If you're not wanting to buy from a main dealer, I'd recommend going with a large, reputable company such as McCarthy.
Clock "fixing" is rife in smaller dealerships (I've worked in the used car trade in SA and have unfortunately witnessed, first hand, this practice) and you're not always really guaranteed to know what you're getting.

Have a look on the ARCSA web site (Alfa Romeo Club of SA), and then navigate to Cape AR Club - they usually have a classifieds section with one or two 105 for sale.

I have a step front (two actually) in Cape Town which has just had a professional body restoration (took 9 months) - I am planning on bringing the car to the UK where I now live.
