Yes it's premium. As is most useful Strava stuff now tbh. I've not had for 6m or so, seems they are slowly cutting off features
Is anybody successfully using Strava for turn by turn mapping on a Roam or Bolt?
Happy to pay the premium subscription for routes, live segments, and ranking tables, but less so to pay for both Strava and Ridewithgps, which I currently use for mapping.

Turn by turn doesn’t work on my mates WahooIs anybody successfully using Strava for turn by turn mapping on a Roam or Bolt?

If you use Ridewithgps the file type is right to get tbt notification on Wahoo.
Take a look at https://www.plotaroute.com/routeplanner an excellent free tool. Plan route, export a gpx file, and import into your device via, in my case, Garmin Connect and sync to my Garmin Edge.Job done. Same principle for my Garmin watch. ETA the gpx file can, of course, be imported into Strava

I only recently started using a spin bike sends power and HR data to Strava. So am now getting charts like these, any one any idea what these graphs means and how you are meant to use them?
I have zero intention of doing any kind of competitive events, but coming up to 40 I just want to keep fit, and if possible beat some of my old PBs some of them set 10 years ago!!

It’s training load based on power data.
There is a little i on Strava which explains it. The more intensive and longer and regular the rides the more the “fitness” will increase but also fatigue. In theory after a big training block if you take sag a week ok the fatigue/form lines will reverse.
If you start tracking it you will see that lots of regular activity if key for building fitness.
Unlike km ridden or time, this reflects effort/work done.

Thanks makes some sense, all the numbers seem to suggest I might need to take more 'rest' days, my legs probably agree. I've never used any kind of numbers to guide effort before, its always just been 'smash' it and get knackered, so will be interesting to see if this approach makes any difference to my fitness. It’ll mostly be useless if based on a peloton bike though. As said on the other thread they’re not reliable for that sort of thing. All of that confirmed when I saw Peirs Morgan had apparently done 385w for 40 minutes
If your a pro it probably is useless, but am using it to benchmark my self. As for Peirs Morgan all I know is the 20 minute FTP test made me feel sick, and all I managed was 198 watts. Funny username said:
I can 100% garuntee Piers didn’t do 385w for 20 minutes.
It seems like if anything the Peloton bikes UNDER estimates power by 10%, so actually 385w on a Peloton is probably close to 400w in real life.......So someone is talking BS, and I doubt its the inanimate object!https://www.cyclingweekly.com/reviews/turbo-traine...
I tend to take most Strava stats with a pinch of salt. What I have learned though, is that the data from my Garmin H.U. Is pretty much bang on. If I second guess it ( especially regarding rest periods) it’s right, I’m wrong, and I suffer. Sometimes the rest periods sound excessive, but I’ve learned over the years to trust it now. I don’t lay off the riding completely, just knock the efforts down to Z1 or 2, and go fully rested when I start falling over.
With the fitness chart, Strava have basically tried to copy the TSS system developed by Allen and Coggan, which is used in the Trainingpeaks software. But Strava don’t license the formulas so they’ve come up with their own thing that gives similar numbers. It gets a bit weird with non-gps activities (eg indoor Trainer rides with just power data) though so I’m not sure what data source it prioritises.
Intervals.icu gives better graphs of fitness/freshness etc using the “proper” formulas. But depends how interested you are in looking at the data and interpreting it and using it to your advantage.

I would bet my life on the fact that it’s wrong. Which means how many others are wrong which means why bother paying attention to such numbers. https://www.cyclingweekly.com/reviews/turbo-traine...
Inanimate objects they may be but power readings being accurate is something many brands have spent years perfecting. Unsurprisingly these toys are not it. And beyond that who even knows if they’re consistently wrong or it fluctuates. Nearly dying doing 198w would suggest yours is fked too.
ETA - they don’t even have strain gauges, it’s all estimate. So with that in mind it’s all total garbage.

Another question...
If someone completes a ride that I like the look of is there anyway to copy it & ride it - either on the app or the website - oh and i'm now premium so have those features too!
The rider hans't however saved it to their routes as I know that's an option to 'ride the route'

Click on his ride. Go down to the map of his ride, top right 'create route' - this ports it as is into routes, if you want to make edits you can, or just hit save, then it will appear in your routes for you to do whatever you do. In my case, star it, then it syncs with garmin connect and appears on my garmin by magic.

Thanks!
Anybody else having an issue with Strava on Android.
Google replaced my Pixel 5 with another Pixel 5 last week, since setting up the new phone, whenever I record a ride, I get a warning triangle at top that says "no gps" but the rides record fine?
doing a few searches it seems it might be a Strava issue.

Anyone else findings Strava less relevant than it was when free? I'm finding myself gravitating to Garmin more now, but I have so much data on Strava I don't want to lose it.
I'm still cool with Strava. Mainly because it links with VeloViewer and I'm really into my VeloViewer tiling rides these days.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
